The next actors from “The Importance of Being Earnest” we are introducing are Harry Hutto and Daelynn Allen!

Harry is a Junior IDS (Theatre, BTS, Youth Ministries) major and is playing the role of Algernon Moncreiff. 

Daelynn is a Sophomore IDS major (Theatre, Business, Music) and is playing Cecily Cardew.

Algernon is living a double life as a fashionable aristocrat who regularly escapes from London and away from the watchful eyes of society. Cecily is a simple country girl who is truthful to a fault. What happens when they meet? Come and see the show!

The next actors in "The Importance of Being Earnest" we are introducing are Caleb Husby and Eve Peterson!

Caleb is a sophomore English major, playing the role of Jack Worthing.

Eve is a sophomore Poverty and Development major, minoring in Biology. She is playing the role of Gwendolen Fairfax.

Jack and Gwendolen are in love - but will Gwendolen's mother, the "monstrous" Lady Bracknell, allow them to get married? You'll have to come and see the show to find out!

This week we're introducing the actors who are hard at work rehearsing "The Importance of Being Earnest!"

Camille Hallstrom and Caylah Overby are both playing the iconic role of Lady Bracknell!

Professor Camille Hallstrom founded our academic theatre program 25 years ago, and we are honored to have her acting in this production to celebrate her legacy!

Caylah is a second year English major with a Theatre minor, and is Professor Hallstrom's understudy. She will perform in the preview night on Wednesday, November 11th, and in the Saturday matinée on November 14th.

Continuing our series of what the Covenant College Theatre Students were up to this summer with Sophia Skudlarczyk!

Phia is a junior Interdisciplinary Studies major who is concentrating in Theatre, French, and Art, and is thrilled to be the Covenant Theatre Marketer this year!

Phia spent this summer working at a gas station where she learned a lot (maybe too much) about her hometown locals, dyeing her hair, spent time with her sisters, and traveled! From 20 minutes to the biggest farmer's market in her state to 15 hours to Rocky Mountain National Park!

This year she plans to audition for both Fall and Spring Mainstage theatre productions, while also participating in Covenant's improv team, Laugh Track. She hopes you will keep an eye on your social medias for posts about upcoming auditions, performances, and events!

It's the first day of the 2026-27 academic year! And we're still catching up with our theatre students and how they spent their summers.

Cassie Fauble returned to work with her family and good friends in the KidsQuest program at her home church, which is where she interned in high school. She got to do lots of goofy and wonderful things onstage and behind-the-scenes for them.

Cassie also ran a theatre workshop at her old homeschool co-op, where they created a 3-minute production with set, lights, sound, and costumes in 2.5 hours. Then she got to take her first mission trip, to Guatemala, which included doing a Bible skit for the wonderful kids there as well as meeting the local Christians and serving with Medical Missions. And last but certainly not least, she got lots of time with her family and friends and caught up on sleep! 😊

Cassie is an Interdisciplinary Studies major with a concentration in theatre. She is an active member of the Theatre Club and will be stage managing their production of Little Women, as well as co-designing lights and sound for The Importance of Being Earnest as a Covenant Theatre work-study student.

The first theatre student back on campus was Mara Kate Barker, who is serving as a freshman orientation counselor this week. Mara Kate spent the summer working at Chick-Fil-a, spending time with family, and traveling to locations such as Naples, FL and Albuquerque, NM!

Mara Kate is an English major with a Theatre minor. She will be serving as the President of the Theatre Club for the second year, taking two theatre classes this fall, and directing the Theatre Club’s production of "Little Women." Save the date for the show - October 10!

For our final “What I Did This Summer” from Covenant Theatre’s staff, we find Theatre Program Chair Camille Hallstrom and her cat relaxing in their garden. This summer, Prof. Hallstrom spent a lot of time working on her garden and home in addition to reading plays and starting her preparation for the two productions she’ll be working on this year – playing Lady Bracknell and coaching dialects for The Importance of Being Earnest, and directing Babette’s Feast.

This fall we’ll be celebrating Prof. Hallstrom’s founding of the Theatre Program at Covenant, when she taught the first theatre course at Covenant 25 years ago!
