It was years ago, and I don’t think I realized until then just how varied my interest in crafts was. It turned out that not only was I arranging events for Michaels customers, but most of the activities I coordinated were ones I’d enjoyed doing or actually teaching. Family and friends were my first “customers”, but at their urging I have started this business. From a history of crafting that inclu
des all types of needlework, jewelry making, anything to do with scrapbooking, mosaics, macramé, floral design, fabric art, and traditional stained glass, I have gleaned all the elements that come together in my beveled glass paperweights. It all started when my church was contemplating adding stained glass windows to our sanctuary. I was lucky enough to be on the committee who was enlisted to interview various stained glass craftspeople. Our church decided against adding the colored windows due to budgetary concerns, but I walked away from the experience much richer in my knowledge of stained glass and eager to learn more about it. That being said, these personalized paperweights are the result. With them, I was able to combine my love of scrapbooking, miniature mascots and all things related to a person’s trademark or personal interest. I delight in finding that perfect central object that personifies the person for whom that paperweight is being designed. The myriad tiny drawers that cover the walls of my craft room supply beads, confetti, miniatures and more to fill the original one of a kind beveled glass triangles, rectangles and squares that make these paperweights something really special.
