Part of newspaper article in today's newspaper. From what I have been told the pool will be fixed!
" One of those projects received support from two women who use the pool at the Paula Martin Jones Recreation Center. The pool has been closed for sometime because it needs repairs. “This is the only affordable pool in Longview, and I really need it,” Longview resident Barbara McDaniel told the council. “It’s a great pool.” She said it keeps her out of a nursing home and out of hospitals. “I hope to make it to 100 when it’s fixed,” she said. She and Marge Litterski, who also addressed the council, called for swim classes for children to be held there. They also lamented that water aerobics haven’t been offered there since the COVID-19 pandemic began in 2020. “I miss all our classes,” said Litterski, who also talked about how the pool helps her deal with health issues. The city previously spent $80,000 to replace the pool liner but then in 2024 discovered there was a leak that was causing the liner to bubble up. “Once we actually did get the liner installed, the underdrains failed,” McPhee told the City Council. The city expects the repairs to cost $417,000, according to information McPhee presented."
