Kayla Koeune Art

Kayla Koeune Art Welcome to Kayla Koeune Art! I love to constantly learn and I feel that shows through my artwork, as it takes an explorative eye of the world around me.

I often portray culture and landscape through my adventurous nature and addiction to travel. Often portraying culture and landscape through my adventurous nature and addiction to travel. My subjects are as broad as nature and humanity are interesting, and I find new attitudes in my work the more of the world I see. I use a variety of mediums but my approach to portray the feeling around me remains

the same. I try to spend as much time making art from life as I do in the studio. Each series or body of work changes in subject matter but my style and voice speak through the pieces. I fancy myself a travel artist who loves wandering in the wilderness. Although much of my time as an artist has been spent producing commissioned art, recently I have found myself at a point of my career where I have shifted to creating work that I am passionate about. I have been returning to the work that I loved studying and creating in art school. As I grow as a human, I also find myself wanting to put more good in the world, so I started an Art for Good Project. Through this project all net proceeds from my art are utilized to plant trees, support conservation efforts, and clean our seas.

Watercolor on Panel
With an unseasonably warm holiday season and no snow I painted this today to try to feel the season. Hoping the snow and the winter Vibes comes to Colorado soon!

Moving at 10x the speed of reality. A new piece I started that has been patiently waiting for me to have time to dive in. A self portrait in a way. A woman who speaks with crows.

Taos New Mexico 6.23.25
Visiting a friend I hadn’t seen in years. We painted in her back yard and played in the garden with her son. I’m not a desert folk, but the desert sure has a lot of unexpected beauty!

Monstera
20x28 on Paper
Monstera is a wonderful plant for the home that is rich in symbolism. I was inspired to paint this plant as I have a massive one in my living room. I have spent many hours admiring how amazingly this plant makes everything seem warmer and exotic. The presence of plant life makes the feng shui of a home seem adventurous to me. There is also a lot of science behind backing that they have a positive effect on your health as they absorb indoor toxins like formaldehyde and benzene. And let’s not leave out the fact that green therapy reduces stress, and stress is related to well all the diseases.

Watercolor sketch
This is a self portrait of me hiking my first Colorado 14,000 ft. Mountain (Mount Sherman). The reference photo was taken by so I’m glad he was able to capture me in the wilderness. Most days living so near the mountains doesn’t suck…

Hanging Lake Trail
11x14 inch Oil on Canvas Panel

Normally I work fast and loose. It’s probably a habit from painting live for so many years then the pressure to be cranking out content for social media, but I decided to slow down for this one. I wanted to capture the snow and how small I felt when looking up during this hike. I’ve been finding myself loving and hating rendering tight details. When I was younger my paintings were photo realistic and as I aged the looser they have gotten. Recently I’ve found myself wanting to render things a little tight and find a balance in the tight and loose of composition.

Like all my paintings, this piece is part of my art for good project and the sale of this piece will plant 80 trees. As always thank you for following along and supporting my art!
