I believe in the pursuit of wonder and the playful exploration of a story. I embrace curiosity; the desire to learn and uncover. I am inspired by children and their bravery; their endless questions and curious nature that drives them to collect tin cans and bits of paper on which to draw. In my work, there are investigations into the changing world that we must bravely face. I aim to evoke questions and curious thought adventures. My illustrations and woodcuts often emerge as an explanation; an attempt to understand a story. It is in the carving of wood or the stroke of a pen that I begin to write down my own thoughts and questions. I find intimacy in the hands-on process; the weight of the press, the touch of the paper, the texture of the wood. I continually seek to investigate and discover wonder through the eyes of a young girl riding on her polar bear or the charming expressions of robot chickens and cows. With wonder and curiosity, I believe that we are able to investigate our own questions and illustrate our own stories.
