One of the best artists that I had the privilege to work with. Miss him in New York.

This is a perfect, classic Antanas Adomaitis. Thank you for sharing it.
This is exactly his surrealism .
Let me break down what you’re looking at:
What you are seeing:
The painting is a double-image - a map that is also a man.
1. The Land is a Person: The brown, textured area at the top is a map of a town/region in Samogitia, his native region. You can see roads, a church, little houses. That map melts down and BECOMES the wrinkled skin of an old man in profile. The idea is: The man is the land. The land carries the wrinkles of his life.
This is a perfect, classic Antanas Adomaitis. Thank you for sharing it.
This is exactly his surrealism I was telling you about. Let me break down what you’re looking at:
What you are seeing:
The painting is a double-image - a map that is also a man.
2.The Face: The old man looking up to the sky - it’s a very Samogitian face.
Deep wrinkles, strong nose, mouth slightly open, with longing or prayer.
Adomaitis often paints old people like this - they represent wisdom, history, and the connection to the earth.
3. The Colors & Technique: The palette is earth - ochre, umber, bone white. The background looks like dry grass, straw, or frost scratched into the paint. That’s his signature mixed-media texture. The white lines are the roads, but also the veins of the face.
4. The Symbol at the bottom: That dark stone-like oval with a Baltic symbol inside is a classic Adomaitis sign. He uses ancient Baltic pagan symbols to talk about roots and identity.

UPDATE: His family has been contacted and arrangements are being made.. Thank you! 🙏

It is with great sadness that I share the passing Gabriele Perici.

Gabriele was a familiar and beloved presence in the Astoria community and beyond — a true artist, a neighbor, and a friend to many.
His work and spirit touched countless people over the years.

At this time, many in the community are trying to locate or connect with any immediate family or next of kin, as none have yet been identified or reached. If anyone has information that could help connect friends and community members with his relatives, please reach out privately.

Please feel free to share this post so it may reach those who knew him or his family.

May his memory be eternal 🌺

💔RIP legend, your art was beyond compare. 🙏

Uma artista visual completa que deve ser para sempre lembrada.
Contato: .vivo .pompeu
