Deadline extended: apply by Sunday, July 13.

Our solo show open call in Brooklyn will stay open for one more week.

We came close to our minimum target of 40 paid applications needed to self-fund the honorarium and production costs. After talking with current applicants, the majority agreed to extend the deadline to make the project viable.

Updates:
• New deadline: Sunday, July 13 at 11:59 PM ET
• Exhibition dates: August 4–17, 2025
• USD 1,000 honorarium
• One selected artist, plus two alternates
• 10 strongest proposals will be featured on and (25k+ combined followers)

Work in any medium is welcome. Priority goes to projects exploring non-institutional modes of practice and display.

This is an open call for one artist to use our Brooklyn Navy Yard gallery for two weeks.
Curatorial focus: projects that explore non-institutional modes of practice and display (working archives, ephemeral formats, ways of showing that resist easy monetisation) will receive priority. Work in any medium is welcome. We still encourage you to apply if your approach lies outside these themes, but your presentation must be deliberate and cohesive.
Fees are 30 / 50 / 70 USD. Patron names will be on the wall. If we reach 40 paid applications, the exhibition proceeds will be available.
The deadline is Sunday, July 6, 23:59 ET.

OPEN CALL - UA RESIDENCY FALL 2023  Applications deadline: May 07, 2023 - TODAY  Come to Brooklyn, NY, to experiment with your production, join our community, connect with other artists and curators, and enjoy the New York City art scene.  One to three four-week cycles at UA International Residency Program FALL 2023: 1st) Sep 11 to Oct 7 2nd) Oct 9 to Nov 4 3rd) Nov 6 to Dec 2  What is provided: .shared studio* up to three artists (24/7 access building, internet, and all facilities included), .portfolio presentation, .two in-person group studio visits per four-week cycle (guest visitors), .three online artist's advisory meetings, .field trips, and art events (twice per four-week cycle), .open studio (last Thursday of the four-week cycle)  Link in bio.

Quais são os limites dos poderes que os artistas têm? Qual a força singular de cada artista? Se pensarmos os poderes como algo que tem mais a ver com a organização e a disciplina sobre as forças, será mais interessante pensar em um empoderamento ou em um fortalecimento dentro do contexto da arte? No empoderamento os artistas têm a capacidade de mudar as dinâmicas do campo onde atuam?

Empoderar é importante politicamente, mas será que não devemos também investir no fortalecimento dos artistas? Não o fortalecimento que pensa na alta performance e no desempenho a todo custo, mas sim um fortalecimento no sentido de um aumento da potência do criar e da expressão própria de cada ume. E você, o que pensa sobre isso?

[ ] Today we have an Open Talk unfolding the subject we've talked about in our last Open Letter: "Brazilian art in the contemporary international context: challenges and perspectives", with Ana Roman , our ILAP Manager, and Daniela Avellar , in English, this time.

Ana Roman is a Master in Geography by the FFLCH-USP and holds a bachelor’s degree in Brazilian Studies from FESP-SP. She was curator, assistant curator, and researcher in several exhibitions held in cultural institutions in Brazil. She was assistant curator of the 34th Bienal of São Paulo, is a content coordinator of the research group Academia de Curadoria and contributes regularly to Piscina, a virtual platform focused on women artists and arts professionals. She is currently curator at Pivô.

Daniela Avellar is a researcher, professor, and curator. She had a bachelor’s degree in Psychology before graduating in Contemporary Studies of the Arts at the Universidade Federal Fluminense. Currently, a member of the doctorate program in Media and Culture Studies at Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro.
