✨First look at MISTERMAN✨

Tonight we begin preview performances for our main stage revival of Enda Walsh’s blistering one-man play, MISTERMAN. Directed by Labhaoise Magee. Starring Daniel Marconi.

This production is a homecoming in every sense as MISTERMAN holds a special place in Origin’s 24-year history in NYC. In 2002, MISTERMAN was our inaugural production, marking both the launch of Origin Theatre Company and Enda Walsh’s American debut. More than two decades later, we’re proud to bring this extraordinary work back to the New York stage.

Since that first Origin production, MISTERMAN has gone on to a remarkable life of its own. From Walsh’s revised 2011 production at Galway International Arts Festival, to its acclaimed 2012 run at St. Ann’s Warehouse starring Cillian Murphy, and later the National Theatre in London. Now, as part of the 2026 Origin Irish Theatre Festival celebrating Enda Walsh, the story returns to where its American journey began.

💫 First rehearsal for MISTERMAN

Yesterday, the cast and creative team gathered to begin work on Enda Walsh’s electrifying one-man play, starring Daniel Marconi.

A “tour de force” of storytelling, MISTERMAN is a “riveting”, “extraordinary”, and “stunning” portrait of one man’s world coming apart at the seams.

First performed by Corcadorca Theatre Company at The Granary Theatre, Cork in April 1999. The play made its American debut at Origin Theatre Company, NYC in January 2002. Later produced by Landmark Productions and Galway Arts Festival in 2011 and then transferred to St Ann’s Warehouse, NYC and the Nation Theatre, London in 2012.

June is finally here and so is the month of the 2026 Origin Irish Theatre Festival celebrating Enda Walsh! 🎉

We're kicking off celebrations by returning to the play that changed everything.

From June 23–July 5, Misterman takes the stage at Theatre Row, bringing us back to the moment where began.

In 2002, Origin presented the American premiere of Misterman, introducing Enda Walsh to U.S. audiences for the very first time. That production marked Walsh's American debut and helped launch Origin Theatre Company, sparking 24 years of bold contemporary storytelling, unforgettable artists, and extraordinary theatrical experiences.

The play would go on to achieve international acclaim, including a celebrated production starring Cillian Murphy at St. Ann's Warehouse in 2012.

Now, as we celebrate Enda Walsh's remarkable body of work at the 2026 Origin Irish Theatre Festival, we're thrilled to revisit the play that started it all with Daniel Marconi (Sweeney Todd) taking on the tour-de-force role of Thomas Magill in this new revival directed by Labhaoise Magee.

Here's to a month of celebrating our past, our present, and the stories still to come.
