Willie, Que descanse en Paz.

Willie Villegas has been an incredible pioneer within the salsa community since the 90’s. He was the band leader of Willie Villegas y Entre Amigos, collaborated with Joe Cuba, and more recently, inspired Cucala’s largest company piece, Inventamos.

Over the years. Willie Villegas performed at Gonzalez y Gonzalez, the wedding of one of our founders Gabriela Nunez parents, and Cucala had the honor to host Willie Villegas Y Entre Amigos at our Anniversary party last year, ringing in Cucala Dance Company’s 3rd year with amazing music and a live company performance.

Cucala turns 4 🎉💃

4 years of salsa, sweat, and community in Long Island City. We built this from the ground up, and we’re celebrating with a full week of free classes plus the biggest social of the year.

📅 Anniversary Week: Sept 8-12
Salsa, bachata, hip hop, tango, house, and capoeira classes all week. Something for beginners through advanced dancers, every single day.

🎂 Saturday, Sept 12
Kids classes, capoeira, and intermediate salsa in the afternoon. Then at 8pm, we turn it up.

🥳 4th Anniversary Social, 8pm
Live music from special guest La Excelencia. The whole Cucala family on the floor. This is the one you don’t want to miss.
