Professional Bio for Rodney Cole
Rodney Cole, professionally known as Rod-X, is a DJ, music producer, entrepreneur, and CEO of Streetdeep Entertainment (SDE). With roots deeply connected to the early foundations of hip hop culture, Rod-X began his musical journey in the late 1970s after being inspired by legendary pioneers Grandmaster Flash and Grand Wizard Theodore. Mentored early on by his stepfather, Granger Sutton, Rod-X developed a passion for DJing that quickly grew into a lifelong dedication to music and entertainment.
Throughout his career, Rod-X has performed at birthday parties, school events, weddings, parks, clubs, and community functions, building a reputation as a versatile and talented DJ. During the 1980s, he expanded into music production and recording, joining the group Pre-Production Posse under Chasimon’e Enterprises, where he sharpened his skills as a DJ, producer, and emcee. It was during this time that fellow member Cisco-X gave him the name “DJ Rod-X.”
As founder and executive producer of Streetdeep Entertainment, Rod-X has produced hip hop and R&B music while continuing to evolve creatively within the entertainment industry. His passion for preserving hip hop culture eventually led him back to DJing, focusing not only on performance but also on keeping the spirit and authenticity of the culture alive.
In addition to music production and live DJ performances, Rod-X has also worked in live video recording and media production. His work documenting local dance groups helped increase their visibility, leading to performances for schools, churches, festivals, political events, and professional sports organizations including the New York Liberty, Charlotte Hornets, and Washington Wizards.
Today, Rod-X continues to expand Streetdeep Entertainment into new creative ventures including podcasting, multimedia production, and independent entertainment development. Driven by resilience, creativity, and a deep love for music, Rod-X remains committed to inspiring audiences while contributing to the ongoing legacy of hip hop culture.
