Kyla Silk is a Long Island based songwriter and folk-soul artist known for soulful storytelling and engaging live performances. She has a unique taste for music and making any song her own. As an alumnus of the College of Saint Rose, Silk developed her artistry in the Capital Region and left an impression for her notable performances at the 2022 Tulip Festival, WAMC Open For Takeout series at The Linda, and opening for Melt at The Hollow. Since her return to Long Island, Kyla has made appearances at iconic spots such as The Bitter End up in the West Village and Salivar’s down in Montauk, and has featured on events hosted by country artist Sarah Gross and AC Carter of TAUK. Silk’s debut EP, Garden, was released in 2021.. So you’ll want to catch her face to face to get a taste of her unreleased work and maybe some of her older works.

A local musician from Long Beach, Jamie is currently finishing her degree in Music and Theater this semester at Hunter College in New York City. Jamie’s influences are Faye Webster, Laufey, JVKE, and Lana Del Rey. Jamie is excited to grace The Blackbird as her debut solo performance of her original music outside of school.

🎶 coming to The Blackbird is Benoir - a trailblazing artist known for his multidimensional art, which often traverses genres and media. Called a “Cultural Ambassador” just before moving from NYC to LBNY in 2007, his original music was featured on notable stages across the country and the globe, blending his love of jazz, pop, rock, reggae, electronic, and world music. Although a multi-instrumentalist (Saxophone, Bass, Piano, Violin, Drums, Ukulele), his primary instrument is guitar, for which he holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Studio Music and Jazz Performance from U of M Frost School Of Music. Benoir is an award-winning educator, performer, event curator, and philanthropist who has discovered, shaped, and propelled many careers within Long Beach and beyond. We are pleased to introduce Katie Mitchell, our next artist in the round. Katie is a singer/songwriter whose powerful, soulful voice is often compared to the likes of Janis Joplin and is paired perfectly with her relatable and confessional style of music. Although she now calls Long Beach, New York, home, her musical roots began at a very young age amongst a family of musicians in Virginia and Ohio. Mitchell grew up listening to an eclectic mix of music from Folk and Americana to classic rock, but her biggest musical influences growing up were the female singer/songwriters coming out of Lilith Fair such as Jewel, Sara McLaughlin, and Joan Osborne.

Mitchell and her band primarily perform around Long Island and New York City, with an especially strong local following in the band’s hometown of Long Beach, known for its bar and live music scene. They have played well-known venues and festivals such as The Bitter End, the Long Beach Summer Concert Series, and local favorite Finn Fest. The KMB is known and loved for their mix of originals, eclectic set of covers, and a sound ranging from classic rock to folk-pop. They cover artists from Lady Gaga to Led Zeppelin and The Beatles to lesser-known groups such as Lucius and Wet Leg.

The band plans to release a series of EPs in the coming years to showcase the breadth and depth of Mitchell’s catalog of originals. For bookings or more information please visit the website at www.thekatiemitchellband.com.
