It's the beginning of Season TEN (What?!) for the Long Beach Community Theater and we're ready to celebrate! Over the past nine years we have had 100's of participants step behind the mic. to share their true stories and talents! Join us for a smorgasbord-sampler of some of our favorite five-minute pieces from our "big shows", our two years spent on ZOOM, and our monthly storytelling event, "Speak. Easy."
Behind the Mask:
What happens when we take our masks off? When does the REAL (insert YOUR name here) get to stand up? AS IS. Post-pandemic, 12 local artists went on a journey inward to learn more about themselves, their interactions with others, and how they show up in the world. Come witness as they creatively express themselves using storytelling, spoken word, monologues, music, and dance to allow you to see BEHIND THE MASK.

Lemur Mom is a special needs comedy for a neuro-diverse universe. Written and performed by Megan Dolan, it is a heartbreaking and hilarious theatrical journey from diagnosis through support groups, child psychologists, and play-dates - trying to help her young son communicate. It’s a poignant and surprisingly funny transformation as Megan moves from believing she’s the wrong mom to accepting she’s the perfect mom for her unique and gifted son.

A racy bedroom farce about gay couples and strange bedfellows.
Peter Stern is turning 50 and not happy. His company is being swallowed by a conservative foreign investor. Peter’s hubbie Elliot is marketing a sports drink with side effects—including extreme horniness. Their friends are completely self-absorbed and now a hunky construction worker is hitting on his husband. Everyone has issues that become intensified once they all drink Mega Voltage!

Act 1 Dance Company is a rising contemporary dance company who also does various dancing styles. In the midst of a pandemic, many individuals were isolated and had few opportunities to interact and create with one another; Act 1 has brought together performers and artists from all walks of life to encourage those interactions. Act 1 Dance Company has been presented with an opportunity to foster artistry and creativity in its newest production: MOVEMENTS. Act 1 Dance Company is an inclusive dance company that aims to inspire its members and community through creative movement.

Nobody Loves a Telemarketer is a delightful romantic comedy about life, love, and their hang ups. Martin, a telemarketer with a debilitating fear of rejection, and his coworker Harry, who takes delight in harassing people over the phone, are met with a cheery new employee who has no idea what she is getting herself into. Along with their eccentric cohort, will Harry go too far and Martin not far enough?
