I think I was the same age my pre-teen daughter is now when I picked up my first Kodak Instamatic with a rotating flash cube. I remember not knowing how to be creative or what to snap pictures of, so I just shot what I saw; the trees, my dog, my bike, myself. Somewhere in a cloud of a young adulthood full of college angst & self-discovery, I found my focus & photography officially became my medium

to digest what the WORLD ​was feeding me. With the lens before my eye and photojournalistic focus, I capture the texture of my client's lives, communicating their emotions and​ interactions with beautiful honesty. My beautiful friend and colleague took this photo while working as my associate photographer in late August. Just yesterday I was informed that he was detained by ICE. Removed from his home while minding his own business, seeking asylum in the US from the violence of his birth country. Little did he know the violence that would find in the place he sought refuge. I can’t even express how hard I root for him and his beautiful wife .p.caceres. He has a go fund me to help Donna get him home… if you can pls do 🫶🏽 (link in stories)

Welp, I didn’t show up for pride month on social media. I’m just realizing that now as I type out this caption…. June is over, July is a day & half old, and Love Island is an absolute mess. Truth is, posting about the wedding industry, wedding photography, and the luxury of celebrating love in general has been the furthered thing from my mind. I haven’t been able to use social media to do anything other than share narratives and records of about the world we’re currently living in. But sometimes I break through in a moment of zen, “oh yea we’re human and humanity still has good”. That’s when I remember my clients, and I’m reminded that humanity still has more in the tank and there are unicorns still out there spreading the energy we need. So grateful for these reminders.
