Whitney Ellis is an actor and filmmaker from Southern California. She is a graduate of UCLA’s School of Theater, Film & Television and was awarded a fellowship to complete her MFA at USC. Whitney’s acting credits include roles in films and plays internationally, including Official Selections of LA Shorts. Her films have been featured at the Hammer Museum, with honors including Best Experimental Film and The Audience Award. Past performances at The Garage Theatre include The Uncertainty Files, Beh, Kill Climate Deniers, Tragedy Gift Shop. Whitney Ellis

Only two weekends left of The Swan, y’all! It’s definitely time to come down and check it out! Grab those tix, yo! It’s also definitely time to meet our incredible cast…

First up, we’ve got this guy… Matthew Anderson who plays Kevin, the milkman.

This is Matthew Anderson’s bio, and it’s delicious. If you’ve been to The Garage before, you’ve probably had yourself a healthy dose of Mr. Anderson’s blood, sweat, and tears (they’re literally in everything). But his heart is all up in the show that you are about to experience right now, too.

Helping build The Garage from the ground up has been, and continues to be, one of the greatest joys of his life. Along with experiencing and expressing music in all of it’s forms, changing lives, and opening up hearts. he also has big, big love for his big, big boyz, Bruno & Bowie. He loves his family, his phamily, and all the work that he does in the world, all of which has led us to this moment right here. Happy that you get to share in it all with us.

Greetings and salutations! Hold your tomatoes, cuz we are about to be holding auditions for our annual, non-denominational, holiday extravaganza…that has absolutely nothing to do with the holidays!

Auditions will be on Monday, September 21st & Wednesday the 23rd from 7-10 PM at The Garage Theatre. We will have sides for cold readings and would love to see you perform a prepared piece, be it play, poem or rock lyrics. Please, park on the street as the restaurant next door owns the parking lot in back and they tow.

Rehearsals will be Monday and Wednesdays from 7-10 PM and we can add more rehearsals, if required.

We are casting the following parts:

Rod McGirdlebutt – The legendary operator of the famous legendary Cyclone Racer
Dixie Troobaloo – Whip smart beat reporter for the Long Beach Press Telegram
Ging Pao – The engineer of the Cyclone Racer and Rod’s best pal who hails from Cambodia
Tricia La Rue – The Pike’s Gum Girl who is as sassy as a June Bug in Paris
Gus Palooka – Owner and proprietor of The Pike and a fan of the sandwich food delivery system
Auntie Palooka – The wife of Gus Palooka who has a surprising secret
Frenchy – The local beat cop for The Pike
Scrufflepicklewickle – A creature that hails from the Land of Dreams

And our Villain…
Ian Sidious – A dastardly carny magician who has affection for Dixie and burning hatred for Rod

Our show runs from Friday, November 13th thru Saturday, December 12th. The performance schedule will be as follows:

Oh, we are sooooo back, y’all!

And we are very much looking forward to being back on stage with you this weekend, for our third weekend of The Swan. That means there are already only three weekends left! 9 shows, my friends, 9 shows. We must close on September 26th.

Remember that Thursdays are our Twofer Sutherland night, where you can get two tickets for the price of one. Thursdays tend to sell out first, so get those tickets while you still can!

Hey hey, happy wednesday, y’all! Just wanted to say thanks for coming out to experience the magic of The Swan over these last couple of weeks. Your presence empowers each performance. Thanks for being there!✨🦢🤍

Last weekend was magic, y’all!✨🦢💙Our story of the swan took off, and landed right in your hearts and minds and conversations. We love to hear all the theories and ideas that are wrapped around what love is, and what it all means! Thanks for sharing them, having them, and most of all, for being there!

We’re back on stage tomorrow night for y’all, with all of y’all! Join us! We’ll be there Friday and Saturday nights, too! Thursday nights are still our Twofer Sutherland Thursdays, where you can get two tickets for the price of one! (Must buy two, to receive the twofer spesh!)

Here we gooooooo! Tonight’s opening night, the night our Swan takes flight! Mysterious, mythical, and magical, what a dream this has all been! And now the dream is coming true! Thanks to you, and to all the many people, friends and families who bring it all together, and support what we do down there, for you, with you. It is felt, and it feels soooooo good!✨🦢🤍

…tech week is upon us, friends! And The Swan is nearly ready to take flight!✨🦢

what goes on behind those windows will be a wonder to behold. you won’t believe the world that we’ve been cooking up for you down there, at your favorite little black box theatre.

A little bit of magic and a little bit of mystery and a whole lotta love is going into this, and that’s what it’s all about! This one pulls those heartstrings in all the right places, and we remember what love means and it is, at all!

Loosely based on the myth of Leda & The Swan, the struggle is real and fully felt. At times hilarious and at times heart-wrenching, just like real life!

Friends, in just two weeks from tonight, The Swan takes flight. On Friday, the 21st of August, we open our production, and we simply can’t wait for The Swan to crash into your hearts and minds.

We can’t share too much yet, but the pieces are all coming together, and the stage is steadily being set, with an incredible set design, and some powerhouse performances, too.

This is a story of the magic of true love, that feeling of being seen for who we are, and who we truly dream we could be. The story speaks to our animal instincts and desires, as well as honoring the struggle in what it means to be human. We love what’s happening down there, right now, and we know that you will, too.
