Fifteen-year-old Isley Morrison of Londonderry will step into the coveted role of Clara in New England Dance Ensemble’s production of The Nutcracker. A high-honor student at Londonderry High School, Isley has trained for 11 years at Londonderry Dance Academy under Barbara Mullen, Artistic Director of NEDE. She has earned a High Merit Award on her most recent Royal Academy of Dance exam and a Gold with Distinction from the American Academy of Ballet Performance Awards. Her long list of past Nutcracker roles—including Baby Mouse, Soldier, Reindeer, Harpist, Russian, Party Girl, and Lead Chinese—makes her casting as Clara a dream fulfilled. Beyond her accomplishments, Isley is known for her dedication, balancing early mornings, school, work, and evening rehearsals with unwavering passion.

Outside the studio, Isley volunteers in the Big Buddy program at Matthew Thornton Elementary School and hopes to pursue elementary education in college, inspired by years of helping younger siblings and cousins. This season, she is especially excited for Clara’s pas de deux with the Nutcracker and the magical snow scene she has adored since childhood. Grateful for the lessons dance has given her—responsibility, determination, time management, and maturity—Isley credits Mrs. Mullen and her teachers at LDA for helping shape both her artistry and who she is today.
