It's been awhile since I posted about what I do as health coach with Optavia. But a few days ago, I was tagged in the nicest post by a client ๐Ÿค—. I coached her this past year on our program, and she has had a remarkable health journey by implementing small shifts in her habits! Iโ€™ll let her words speak to youโ€ฆ.

On Wellness Wednesday I wanted to share my motivation in serving (coaching) others to health. My own story is full of profound shifts- one I want for everyone I know. One that I hope motivates.

I rejoice in the shift for Jessica! Itโ€™s really not about how we look- itโ€™s about how we feel, how healthy we are on the inside, how much energy we have in order to live our life as fully as possible with the people we care about โค๏ธ. 'I've struggle with my weight most of my life! I have been over 200 lbs since high school and learned to just love me as I was, but deep down I still had a lot of self esteem and self confidence issues. I have tried every diet out there to lost weight just to gain it all back.

What started out as another diet ended up changing my life in so many ways! I have lost 85 lbs but gained a new out look on life! My kids have a mom full of energy that can keep up. My husband has a wife that is happy and full of life. But MOST importantly I love myself for the first time! I love who I have become and who I am becoming! And now I get to inspire others to what is possible!

I am so thankful for this program and the community of people I get to surround myself with ๐Ÿ™

Tuesday walk- Feeling good!

An excerpt from Harvard Medical School Article on the benefits of walking. Even a few more steps a day can be so helpful!

โ€œIt eases joint pain. Several studies have found that walking reduces arthritis-related pain, and that walking five to six miles a week can even prevent arthritis from forming in the first place. Walking protects the joints โ€” especially the knees and hips, which are most susceptible to osteoarthritis โ€” by lubricating them and strengthening the muscles that support them.โ€

With the encouragement of our walking group and the Active Steps Challenge my monthly cumulative miles is over 354!! Thatโ€™s 709,170 total steps for September๐ŸŽ‰

Today, as I reflect on the 13 months of my new career as a health coach and the continuation of my own health journey, I am so very thankful! I am so happy to be fit and active again, and love helping others feel great and reach their health goals!

Some of you know my story, others do not, so here is a short version:

When I was a young mother of 3, at 32, I was diagnosed with a cluster of autoimmune dis-ease: Lupus, Rheumatoid arthritis, Lyme, Connective Tissue disease, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Fibromyalgiaโ€ฆ and more recently psoriatic arthritis. ๐Ÿฅบ I was feeling pretty overwhelmed, but I plowed through, determined to live a full life! I managed the best I could with so many natural and allopathic medicines and supplements, special diets, etc. I almost never talked about it, since it is what it is, and it was mostly hidden. - And I homeschooled the kids and ran a performing arts studio. ๐Ÿ˜Œ. I was helped by the constant movement required to teach dance 5-6 days a week, although I almost never talked about the pain I endured. I share this because I had resigned myself to what my life was. And I was determined to still live as fully as I possibly could, as joyfully as I could.

Well, Covid came and knocked me for a huge terrible loop. Caused all kinds of flaring, and I developed long Covid, with serious heart and kidney issues. Wow the brain fog and fatigue! Had to shutter the studio, ended up closing for good. ๐Ÿ˜ญ. And I gained a lot of weight! ๐Ÿฅบ

For more than 25 years, we have lived a very natural, very active, mostly organic lifestyle, so I thought I knew how to get control of my weightโ€ฆ..but nothing was working. So I thought- well I am almost 60, it is what it isโ€ฆโ€ฆ. But I desperately wanted better. I wanted to have control of my weight and my downward spiraling health.

So what happened? I was introduced to a simple system of healthy habits, took control with a system that really works. (I mostly already knew the info- but I needed a simple system- most of you know I prefer to create my own system, but I had to let go of that and jump into one that had proven efficiency.) So where am I now?

I learned how to eat foods in healthful combination, at the right timing, to truly nutrify my body, hydrate and prioritize sleep. What happened? Well, I feel great!! I have very little discomfort, am back to the weight I got married at, (a size 2!) and feel like I am 25 again. Iโ€™m active every day, and am thanking my coach who helped me get here- and the system that is so remarkable that I began paying it forward a year ago. So on this coaching anniversary I am happy to share this update and thank those that have supported and encouraged me. I also thank those that have trusted me to guide them through their own health journey. ๐Ÿฅฐ. It truly is a labor of love and gratitude๐ŸŒป
