Jerry Meyer & Lynda Rose BackStory Woodworks
At BackStory Woodworks, we feel the story is about our products, but it's just as much about the materials we use. Our products are handmade from wood and other materials that we have collected from a variety of sources over 35 years. Most of our one-of-a-kind pens are collected from old buildings, purchased from individuals, and salvaged from dead or dying trees. Our antler products are made from shed antlers and other legally acquired antlers. The most amazing backstory is about the River Wood from white oak logs that were part of a dam built in the 1830s as part of the Ohio canal system. These logs have been submerged under the river since the 1830s until they were approximately 200 years old, meaning they were virgin timber and started out as seedlings in the 1630s. With this purchase, you can own a piece of history.

Cheryl Cherry is an artist who has shown and sold her work and worked in public education as an Art Teacher for over 37 years. She attended Ohio University, earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree and a Master's in Art Education. For Cheryl, making art is an investigative process. She prefers working with acrylic painting, ceramics, and design. Additionally, she creates hand-stitched leather journals, which she sells at time period-specific trade fairs (1740-1850), along with beaded woven amulets, earrings, and functional ceramic pieces. Her spontaneous personality is reflected in her evolving art, which is influenced by her experimentation, discoveries, inspirations, and research. Having spent her career teaching teenagers to paint, draw, and work with 3-dimensional design, she now focuses on pursuing her own art in ceramics and painting. Cheryl serves as a board member for the ArtsaRound Gallery in Circleville and the Somerset Artists' CoOp, and is a member of the Hocking Hills Artists and Craftsman Association, the PumpHouse Center for the Arts in Chillicothe, the Mid-Ohio Jewelry Arts Guild, and the Columbus Miniature Society.
