Story time! And shout-out to Wilton animal rescue! When I lived in NYC I was involved in and did a lot of grassroots animal rescue work via and . After travelling for a few years, and then moving to the Bay Area, I didn't really get back into it (combo of burnout and compassion fatigue) but I guess once a rescuer, always a rescuer? Anyhew while driving home from Tahoe with , we saw a dog on the side of the road in Lodi California! Immediately we pulled over, jumped out, and tried to lure this pittie baby over. After failing and asking around, we had to drive back home. But I got online, looked for local rescue organizations, and got in touch with Carol from Wilton Animal Rescue. Last night and this morning, Carol went out to try and trap the dog but finally this morning, she managed to do it! We had a Convo last night about the struggles of doing animal rescue in this area of California, the lack of county and city support, and the need for education on spaying and neutering.
