🔥 THIS IS A CERTIFIED MASTERPIECE | part 6

Jamie Foxx — “Unpredictable” 🎙️
Produced by Jim Jonsin, Bigg D & Harold Lilly 🎚️

It took THREE GENIUSES to create a perfect beat — and Jamie Foxx was the ONLY ONE who could body this beat the way he did.

And that sample? 👀🔥

The record samples “Wild Flower” (and “Wild Flower (Suite)”) performed by the legendary funk & R&B group New Birth. 🌹🎶

That soulful foundation is a huge part of what makes this production hit the way it does. The way that classic sound was transformed into this smooth, rich, head-nodding R&B record is sample-flipping done RIGHT.

The groove.
The melody.
The bounce.
That unmistakable pocket.

And for the ones that KNOW…

THIS IS A 2-STEP SONG. 🕺🏾💃🏾

Soon as this comes on, you already know what time it is. 😂🔥

🎚️ 3 producers. 1 masterpiece.
🎹 Legendary sample.
🎙️ Perfect artist for the beat.
🕺🏾 Certified 2-step.

2000s R&B was DIFFERENT.

🌴 THIS ONE FEELS LIKE SUNSHINE. ☀️🌊 part 5

Amerie — “Why Don’t We Fall In Love”
Produced by the incredibly underrated Rich Harrison 🎚️

First off… Rich Harrison is NOT talked about enough.

This man was behind records like Beyoncé’s “Crazy in Love,” Amerie’s “1 Thing,” Jennifer Lopez’s “Get Right,” and so many other records that helped shape the sound of 2000s R&B.

But THIS record?

Easily one of my favorite R&B songs of the 2000s.

And the production is CRAZY when you know where it came from. 🎹

Rich Harrison sampled “I’ve Got You Where I Want You,” featured alongside the main theme in the “Medley: Condor! / I’ve Got You Where I Want You” from the 1975 film Three Days of the Condor. 🎬🎶

Talk about flipping a sample into an entirely different world.

He took that cinematic source material and transformed it into this warm, soulful, sun-soaked R&B groove that feels like a beautiful day on the beach somewhere far away. 🌴☀️🌊

The melody.
The percussion.
The groove.
The way everything breathes.

And as a DJ, every time I spin this record, I already know the reaction I’m going to get. 🙌🏾

That’s the power of great production — you can hear the first few seconds and suddenly everybody is transported somewhere.

Sample → flip → arrangement → feeling.

Rich Harrison understood the assignment.

🎚️ Elite production.
🎹 Elite sample flip.
🌴 Elite atmosphere.
❤️ Timeless R&B.

Salute to Amerie. Salute to Rich Harrison. And salute to the incredible source material that helped create this classic.

🔥 A SLEEPER | Part 3

Young Guns — “No Better Love”
Produced by Chad Wes Hamilton 🎚️

This one deserves WAY more love.

That Luther Vandross — “No Better Love” sample was chopped and flipped to perfection. 🎹 The way Chad Wes Hamilton layered those smooth, soulful elements with the drums created a beat that feels warm, luxurious, and effortlessly smooth.

Nothing overdone. Nothing fighting for attention. Just beautiful sample work + clean production + that unmistakable Hip-Hop soul.

🎹 Fire sample.
✂️ Perfect chop.
🥁 Smooth production.
💎 Certified sleeper.

This is the type of record you catch yourself going back to just to appreciate THE BEAT.

Salute to Chad Wes Hamilton for the production, Young Guns for the record, and Luther Vandross for the timeless source material. 🐐

Part 2 - 🔥 THIS BEAT IS A PROBLEM.

Jadakiss — “We Gonna Make It” produced by The Alchemist.

This is what happens when sample selection, chopping, drums, and atmosphere all come together perfectly. That dark, soulful sample gives the record its identity, and ALC turned it into something gritty, cinematic, and timeless. 🎹🥁

The sample: “My Music” — Samuel Jonathan Johnson 🎶

The way ALC flipped that record is a masterclass. He didn’t need a million sounds — just the RIGHT sounds. That sample carries emotion, the drums knock, and the whole beat leaves room for Jadakiss to do what Jadakiss does.

🎚️ Fire production.
🎹 Fire sample.
🥁 Fire drums.
🐐 TIMELESS HIP-HOP.

This is why sample-based production will ALWAYS be an art form.

Salute to The Alchemist. Salute to Jadakiss. And salute to Samuel Jonathan Johnson for the source material. 🔥

There are beats… and then there are BEATS. 🐐

“I Know” by JAY-Z is one of those records where the production speaks before the lyrics even have a chance to. The space. The bounce. The drums. That unmistakable Neptunes pocket. 🥁🔥

Pharrell & Chad Hugo weren’t just making beats — they were creating soundscapes that felt futuristic, minimal, soulful, and completely undeniable.

This one is a masterclass in less is more. Every sound has a purpose. Every pocket breathes. Nothing is overcrowded. Just pure Neptunes precision.

🎚️ Salute to JAY-Z for the record.
🎹 Salute to The Neptunes for the production.
🐐 Salute to one of those beats that reminds you why production is an art form.

That Neptunes sound is forever.
