The Bayou Playhouse, located in Lockport, Louisiana, opened its premiere season in 2008 and has established itself as the only non-profit professional theatre south of New Orleans. It is also the only theatre in the state with a primary mission to support Southern artists and present plays that celebrate Southern culture, as well as community events... all in a down-on-the-Bayou setting. Over the
last five years, the Playhouse has produced and presented over 50 productions including mainstage theatrical performances, musical cabarets, standup comedy, world premiere productions, concerts, and film festivals. The Bayou Playhouse has entertained over 20,000 patrons from Grand Isle to New Orleans to other states and countries abroad. Many of the Playhouse patrons are introduced to live theatre for the very first time when attending Playhouse productions while sitting side-by-side with theatre patron veterans.
