Niagara Arts Guild (NAG) was created in 1948 and is one of the oldest art groups in Western New York with members from Niagara, Erie and the surrounding counties. All artistic media is welcome including painting (watercolor, oils, acrylics), photography, pen and ink.....the list is endless

Dennis Stierer was our guest speaker at this months meeting. He is a self taught photographer with an illustrious career. Dennis gave us a brief background on his career and also the Erie Canal. He showed us many photographs developed using different techniques. Dennis is curator of a show to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the Erie Canal, the opening reception will be at the Kenan Center on Sunday September 21st.

The Niagara Arts Guild spring show was judged by Sherryl Perez. The show is at the Niagara Historical Society, 215 Niagara St. and the show can be seen Monday -Saturday from 9-5 through May 29th. The results are:

Meeting

This month’s meeting will take place at the Dale Association, 33 Ontario St. in Lockport.

The meeting starts at 7:00 PM Friday April 11th.
The public is always invited to attend.

Our guest presenter will be Joan Horn – An acclaimed artist and educator, known for her mastery of oil painting and the Trompe L'oeil technique. Joan Horn will present on the topic of Color.

Joan Horn co-founded Partners in Art and currently leads oil painting classes ranging from beginner to advanced levels at the Carnegie Art Center in North Tonawanda. Her instructional repertoire includes workshops on color theory, perspective, and composition, where she shares insights gleaned from her extensive experience.

Joan Horn has authored 'Complementary Palettes, the Color Charts', a great resource for the arts community in understanding color relationships. Her artistic journey began with a Bachelor of Science in Art Education from SUNY Buffalo, followed by an apprenticeship under master painter John Yerger.

NAG Spring Art Show Reminder – The show will be held at the Niagara County History Center Building, 215 Niagara Street Lockport

Artwork Drop-off begins at 9:00 AM and hanging starts at 1:00 PM on Wednesday April 30th.

The show reception will be Saturday May 3rd at 2:00 PM

Artwork pickup is Monday June 2nd between 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM

Niagara Arts Guild Meeting

When: Friday March 14 at 7:00 PM

Where: The Dale Association, 33 Ontario St. Lockport

Change: Room 120 where we hold our Christmas Dinner, not our usual room.

March’s meeting presentation will be “In-house”. Rhonda is preparing a fun filled activity for us.
