🎭✨ DIRECTOR SPOTLIGHT: LIZA McCARTHY ✨🎭

As we prepare for the final performance of Once Upon a Vaudeville today at 2 PM, we’d like to shine a spotlight on the woman behind the magic: Liza McCarthy.

Liza is delighted to be directing her 8th Vaudeville show, a tradition that has become a beloved part of Gaslight-Baker Theatre and our community. For the past 14 years, she has served as an active member of the GBT Board of Directors, helping guide the theatre through incredible growth while fostering the creativity, collaboration, and sense of family that make GBT so special.

When she’s not directing, Liza serves as an elementary art teacher and Visual Arts Coordinator for Lockhart ISD, inspiring the next generation of artists every day. Around the theatre, you’ll find her doing just about everything—painting sets, creating larger-than-life puppets, running box office, serving popcorn at concessions, and helping bring productions to life behind the scenes.

The creativity, imagination, and heart that audiences have experienced in Once Upon a Vaudeville are a reflection of Liza’s passion for storytelling and the arts. She would like to thank the incredibly talented cast, crew, volunteers, and audiences who continue to make Vaudeville such a special tradition year after year.

📚 Favorite book: The English Oxford Dictionary—full, concise, mini, hardback, softback, or online version. After all, every great story, poem, dramatic monologue, and questionable Vaudeville joke has to start with the right words!

Join us tonight for another magical evening of Once Upon a Vaudeville at Gaslight-Baker Theatre! 📖🌟

🌟 Shaela Leggett-Bresett
Shaela has been involved with the GBT since the very first Vaudeville show in 2010. As a performer, director, and member of the Board of Directors, it is one of her favorite places to be. Shaela’s two favorite books are *The Giving Tree* by Shel Silverstein and *The Book of Qualities* by J. Ruth Gendler.

💃 Krystal Todd
Krystal is best known as the fearless troupe leader of Midnight Breeze, where she has dazzled audiences with rhythm, energy, and style. This year’s *Once Upon a Vaudeville* marks her very first acting debut alongside Nina and Shaela. Favorite book – *Outlander* by Diana Gabaldon.

✨ Nina Fengari
Nina’s belly dance journey began in 2010 with her love for Middle Eastern music. She was hooked after her first belly dance lesson. Now, Nina dances in restaurants, at weddings, parties, special events, and in various shows. She wishes to bring a little magic and a lot of joy to her audience through her dance. Contact her if you would love to add a little magic to your next event! Favorite book: *Their Eyes Were Watching God* by Zora Neale Hurston.

🎬 Tam Francis
Tammy fell in love with theatre in high school. She worked in the professional Comedy Sportz Troupe and two University of Arizona improv groups, while acting and directing at theatres throughout the region. Later, represented by the Leighton Agency, she worked professionally in infomercials, indie films, industrial films, and commercials, eventually moving out of state. Since then, she has appeared in numerous plays, garnering a Best Actress Award for a drama in 2012 and Best Director in 2017 (*Cheaper by the Dozen*), 2021 Broadway Regional Awards for Set Design & Costuming for *Godspell*, and 2021–2024 Post Register's Best Actress and Best Writer Awards for Caldwell County. She is currently on the GBT Board of Directors. She is an award-winning novelist with four novels and two short-story collections available at Book People (Austin), Haunt Happy Books (Lockhart), Amazon, or tamfrancis.com.

🎭✨ OPENING NIGHT IS HERE! ✨🎭

Tonight, the curtain rises on *Once Upon a Vaudeville* at Gaslight-Baker Theatre — and it’s HALF-PRICE NIGHT! 📖🌟

🎶 David D'Alonzo is thrilled to return to the Gaslight-Baker stage after playing Tommy in Matilda the Musical in 2025. Previous credits include Macbeth with Austin Shakespeare and productions of A Christmas Carol, Locksley: A Robin Hood Tale, and A Midsummer Night’s Dream with Chambers Theater. This is David’s first Vaudeville production, and he hopes to “worm” his way into your hearts with a “distant melody” celebrating storytelling. 📚 Favorite book: Magic Treehouse: Stage Fright on a Summer Night.

🌟 Ava Abundez is excited to be part of this year’s Vaudeville production! Currently a sixth grader at LJHS, Ava made her stage debut this past April in Too Many Detectives in the Murder Mansion as Nancy Drew. She dreams of one day performing on Broadway in New York City. In her free time, Ava enjoys dancing, reading, and theater class. 📚 Favorite book series: The Mysterious Benedict Society.

🎸 Aliana Alderete is excited to perform at GBT for the very first time. She began her musical journey as a violinist in orchestra before teaching herself guitar, which she has played for five years. Inspired by bossa nova and samba, Aliana has shaped her singing and playing style around those influences. This marks her first time performing as a vocalist on stage. 📚 Favorite book: Hour of the Star by Clarice Lispector.

🔧 Nehemiah Gonzalez is participating at Gaslight-Baker Theatre for the first time. A 14-year-old homeschool student, Nehemiah enjoys math, science, computer technology, and figuring out how things work by taking them apart and putting them back together again. 📚 Favorite book: the Bible, especially the four Gospels.

💃 Kylah Grace Hardy is 15 years old and has been a professional dancer for over six years. In her spare time, she helps her family run their coffee shop in Luling, attends church, and enjoys reading. 📚 Favorite book: Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen.

🎭✨ MEET THE CAST ✨🎭

🌟 **Gareth Schulte** is a Texas State junior pursuing a BFA in Theatre with a minor in Dance. A Lockhart native, Gareth has been volunteering at GBT for over 10 years and is excited to continue sharing his love of theatre with the community. 📚 Favorite book series: *The Land of Stories* by Chris Colfer.

🎬 **Eva Feole** is a Senior at Lockhart High School and has been acting for 6 years. While this is her first production at Gaslight-Baker Theatre, she has appeared in more than 15 productions, most recently *Little Shop of Horrors* and *Blood Brothers* at LHS. After graduation, Eva plans to attend Texas State University for Theatre Education. 📚 Favorite books: *Divergent* by Veronica Roth and *Fake Skating* by Lynn Painter.

✨ **Cierra Collins** is excited to make her Vaudeville debut! Audiences may recognize her from GBT’s *Matilda the Musical* where she appeared in the ensemble. Cierra currently attends the University of the Incarnate Word, majoring in Theatre Arts with a focus in Stage Management and Acting. She would like to thank her friends and family for their support. 📚 Favorite book: *The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo* by Taylor Jenkins Reid.

🎶 **Mya Acosta** has loved music her entire life, and performing on stage with her friends is one of her favorite things. This year marks her ninth variety show, and she’s just as excited as she was for her very first performance. Mya loves singing, having fun, and making unforgettable memories with amazing people. 📚 Favorite book: *Nightbooks* by J.A. White.
