She has been creating in various genres since she was a child, and painting with acrylic on canvas has always been her preferred medium. She is sel

f taught, with no formal training since grade school. She became a single mother right out of high school, in 2000, and struggled to make ends meet, which pushed my creative outlets to the back-burner. With her children now grown, she is painting again as a way to examine and heal from the journey through life as a teenage mother, living through poverty and abuse, to becoming a successful entrepreneur. Through strong movement, heavy textures, and vibrant colors, she tries to express the vast spectrum of whimsical and powerful women. She aims to showcase the power of sisterhood, and the beauty of complexity that feminine energy brings to the world. They wrote a song about me!! I love night drinking outside! Or anytime really. Also look at my sunflower and my (as my grandmother would say, “pot plants”) potted plants! Happy leaves = happy outside Melissa!
I got my hat in Australia, and it says, “Life Is Better Outside” and it goes with my rain boots!

So I do my own hair color. It’s a mixture of colors and processes, but I love when it’s newly done because I feel like a cartoon character! Like as if it grows out of my head this shade!!

A roll of cheese, a sock that my sisters dog stole and I had to wrestle back, a halter top because it might get hot later, and an Easter egg with 4 quarters. The Easter egg was found on the floorboard of my truck. It wasn’t there yesterday. I have no clue how it got there. Like, I LITERALLY have no idea where this egg came from!! It was in my truck at 8am when I was going to the dentist…..???????

Just a few pics from that I got to share with my gorgeous son . He was such a freaking vibe!!! I also got dry ice branded (it’s already gone, and I had just finished Yellowstone so may have been influenced)!
The burn was so stunning! People built a 3 story whale, and you could climb inside of it and leave messages and/or let go of what no longer serves you. I can’t believe how much work people dedicate into putting on these many experiences for others, just to do it! Because they believe in community and a sense of creative freedom. I cried a lot, because I’m a crier, and it was all so beautiful!
