Notice of Election of Council Members and Mayor of the Town of Loachapoka, Alabama

Notice is hereby given that on Tuesday, March 28, 2017 an election for the purpose of electing members of the Town Council and the Office of Mayor of the town of Loachapoka, Alabama, will be held, and that all registered and qualified electors of the state, who reside within the corporate limits of Loachapoka, Alabama, and have resided therein for 30 days or more immediately preceding the day of such election, and who are qualified to vote in the county precinct which embraces and covers that part of the corporate limits of said town of Loachapoka, Alabama in which the elector resides, will be authorized to participate in said election.
The polls will be opened at the Loachapoka Community Center, 6091 Stage Road, Loachapoka, Alabama 36865 at 7a.m. and will close at 7p.m. on March 28, 2017.
Candidates, who properly reside within the Town limits and within the district from which he or she seeks election, for a period of at least 90 days on election day may qualify to run for office by filing the appropriate forms with Mayor James Grout and paying all appropriate fees ($10.00). Candidates may qualify beginning on January 24, 2017 by the mayor or other chief executive officer.
--The foregoing notice is hereby given by resolution of the governing body of the Town of Loachapoka, Alabama.

Qualifying ends on the third Tuesday in February (2/21) at 5:00pm local time.





All candidates who reside within the town limits of Loachapoka, AL, in addition to all other required forms, must swear to and complete an Affidavit of Candidacy. If any candidate needs a free Notary service, the law firm of Travis Wisdom will provide that without charge. The Community Center — also known locally as the “Old School House” — was the elementary school for many years until the new one was built on Lee Road 61 in 1973. Soon afterwards the School was acquired by the Town of Loachapoka and has been utilized as the Community Center since then.

Some of the event types held at the Community Center include Bridal Showers, Weddings, Baby Showers, Family Reunions, Birthday Parties, Business Meetings, Retirement Parties, and Funerals.
