Update Monday 8/10: The pool will remain closed until local air quality improves to an AQI of 150 or below.

Livingston Recreation’s established policy requires outdoor programs and facilities to close when AQI reaches 151 or higher. We understand the frustration these closures can cause and appreciate your patience.

For operational decisions, we use local PurpleAir sensors in Livingston because they reflect conditions within our immediate community. Other reputable air-quality resources provide valuable regional guidance; however, their nearest monitoring stations are more than 30 miles away, and smoke conditions can vary significantly across the valley.

We will continue monitoring local conditions and will reopen the pool as soon as the AQI meets our operating standard.

Thank you for your understanding as we apply this policy consistently for the health and safety of our patrons and staff.

UPDATE 8/9 12:15 PM: we will remain closed for the day as conditions haven’t improved enough.
We will attempt to open tomorrow if AQI remains consistently below 150.

Update: AQI is 161 at 10:30 AM - we will NOT OPEN for Water Aerobics and reevaluate at 12:00 PM to see if there is enough improvement for Open Swim.

Sunday, August 9:
Air quality is 162 at 8:45 AM
We will be closed for LAP SWIM this morning and continue to evaluate the conditions.
If conditions improve (AQI 150 or lower) we will attempt to open.

The pool is currently closed due to mechanical issues. Our staff is working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.

Our Lost & Found is filling up with towels, goggles, water bottles, clothing, sandals, and more that have been left behind throughout the swim season!

If you've been missing an item, now is the time to come check our Lost & Found at the pool before the season ends. We would love to get your belongings back to you!

Please stop by during pool hours to claim your items. Any unclaimed items remaining after the pool season will be donated.

Thursday, August 6: Due to continued deterioration in local air quality, the Livingston City Pool will be closed for the remainder of Public Swim and this afternoon's Swim Lessons.

We will continue to monitor air quality conditions and will reevaluate conditions prior to Family Swim and Water Aerobics this evening. Any changes to those programs will be communicated through our normal communication channels.

Please refer to the Livingston Recreation Department's Air Quality Policy regarding how air quality is monitored and when cancellations will occur.

While Livingston Recreation follows established guidelines to determine when activities are canceled, we recognize that smoke affects everyone differently. Participants and families are encouraged to make the decision that is best for their health and comfort. If air quality conditions do not feel suitable for you or your family, we fully support your decision to opt out of participation.

Wildfire smoke can change quickly in the Livingston area, and air quality may vary significantly from one location to another. Livingston Recreation monitors air quality throughout the day to help keep participants, spectators, volunteers, and staff safe.
