The Music: Polk County Pagan Market is the Southern Pagan folk project of Jason McLelland, blending ancestral storytelling, backwoods mysticism, and outlaw community spirit. Born in the pines of East Texas, McLelland creates music for the ones who never fit the church pew, who honor freedom, roots, and old ways whispered through the trees. A rising independent voice championing spiritual autonomy and creative rebellion, Polk County Pagan Market builds community around empowerment, ritual, and self-defined faith, no gatekeepers, no shame, no apologies. The Festival:
The Polk County Pagan Market meets several times a year in Livingston Texas. In 2023 we will be gathering for Imbolc, Beltane, Lughnasadh & Samhain. Each of these events are listed under the events tab and on Eventbrite. This is a free event networking Pagans, Wiccan's Witches and like-minded individuals while giving a safe space to come together, free from pressure or hate. We are always seeking unique vendors & entertainment to add to our growing group. To become a vendor, please use the appropriate form on our website. Vendor fee grants available for those in special circumstances. The Polk County Pagan Market is a fairly new event. A growing market that has met some pushback from Religious opposition in its beginning. On November 12th 2022 the first event was held in Livingston successfully. Nearly 500+ people came to visit with from all around, despite the small protests set up outside of the event by out of town Christian groups, such as a small group of non local protestors. Following this, the second event was held on Imbolc February 4th 2023, featuring 96 vendors and seen a 1500+ turnout. This is event is dedicated to the Pagan Community, Hosted in Livingston Texas, but networking Pagans all around the world. Please let others know, share with your friends and let everyone know!!

Live music at the Haunted Trail this weekend. Come out and hang out, bring a chair. Music starts at 8pm, trails open at 7:45pm. We will be open till midnight Saturday.

Well, it's almost Halloween, so here come the people telling everybody that Halloween is the devil's holiday and letting your kids dress up and get candy is inviting Satan into your home.

But don't worry, you can take those same kids to a church parking lot, dress them up, and let them collect candy out of strangers' trunks. That's perfectly fine.

Apparently Satan can't cross the white lines in a church parking lot. I guess he gets to the entrance, sees a minivan with a Bible verse on the back, and just turns around and goes home.

And pumpkins. Carve one at home and you're opening a portal to Hell. Put that same pumpkin in front of a church and suddenly Jesus approves.

Meanwhile, us Pagans are over here celebrating Samhain, honoring our ancestors, remembering those who have passed, and welcoming the darker half of the year.

You know, the really terrifying stuff. Lighting candles, remembering Grandma, and maybe leaving her a little something at the table.

So they took a holiday with Pagan roots, moved it to a church parking lot, changed the name, kept the costumes, kept the candy, kept the pumpkins, and declared victory over Satan.

I do have to give them credit. That's one hell of an exorcism.

Poor Satan. Thousands of years causing trouble, only to be defeated by a church van, a folding table, and a five-pound bag of Tootsie Rolls.

And somewhere in the spirit world, our ancestors are probably wondering why the Christians are celebrating Samhain out of the back of a Ford Explorer.

I swear these people never miss a year to point out we are eating babies and having or**es in the woods.

I gotta give them credit, though. Three years in a row of bitching about us takes some serious dedication. At this point, they're more consistent than some of our management team. Hell, they're practically part of our annual Halloween tradition.

Btw, Just a bunch of friends hanging out in the woods. That sounds less like a haunted trail and more like a church picnic with the lights turned off.

Meanwhile, over here at Haunted Woods, we're actually trying to scare the hell out of people. All while having a few laughs and enjoying the season.

But hey, if you want to pay to watch people socialize in the dark, there's always the other place. I'm sure they will give you an ear full about us "devil worshippers".

Our Haunted Trail is looking for a few more paid actors. Age 16 or over. Must be available on Friday and Saturdays.

Haunt season is in full swing. Our Haunted Trails are running every weekend here in Livingston. As we go in to the month, the woods get darker, scarier and we add more additions.

We want to give a shout out to all the haunt workers out here. They are doing great. Also I wanted to share this message that I shared on my personal page:

When coming out to the haunted trails this year please remember not to touch the actors. They are also not allowed to touch you. We are seeing more of it this year than usual.

We understand things happen in the confusion. But if you purposely slap someone's mask off, or grab someone just to be acting up.. You may find your self tied up, put in a cage and used as a prop for the rest of the season. Worst part is, we don't even have anyone to feed you. We do have wild hogs out there, the last actor we put in the cage disappeared. We assumed they got out and went home, but who knows. So basicly it's gonna suck.

Also, I get that lots of folks smoke w**d. It's not a big deal, but please do it like at home, in your car or somewhere so that everyone else don't have to get high. The property is huge, if it's a must.. walk to like the other side of the 3 acres.

Not in the portapotty, not in everyone's face, not walking around while talking to people. We don't have enough snacks to feed everyone that gets a contact and it's hard to motivate 30 people who just got a contact high and don't know where they are.

That's all for now, just remember before coming to act up.. those woods are 220 acres deep and there's not many people to hear the screams.

Just found this freshly laid in our driveway entrance to the haunted woods.

Either someone may have thought they would use it as an attempt to curse or harm the outcome of our season this year. Or they was hoping to help out and use a little iron for protection. I'm assuming ill intentions, seeing as we have found a few other things that popped up at same time.

That's perfectly fine, we are gonna reuse it. I will consecrate and cleanse it then use it for property protection.

The Harvest Moon is here. Tonight's Moon is the full moon closest to the Autumn Equinox and gets its name from the days when farmers used the extra moonlight to keep harvesting after the sun went down.

For us, it's a pretty good reminder that fall is officially here, the nights are getting longer, and we're heading into our favorite time of year.

So get outside tonight, enjoy the cooler weather, look up at the moon and soak it in for a little while.

We are celebrating with opening weekend, a few vendors are out. More will come in the days to follow.
