Open to the public 2nd Thursday of each month for Artists at Work Night, from 6-8 pm, with open studios and featured artists or happenings in the studios and downtown. Artists at Work is skipped during October due to ArtWalk, always on the 2nd Saturday of the month. As of June 2, 2017 the wonderful Bothwell Downtown Art Studios closed their doors to the public!! Ten of the fourteen studio artists
have joined the Bothwell Arts Center at 2466 8th Street, Livermore, CA. The Bothwell is a vibrant center of arts of all mediums and genres. Nova Starling, Dan Riley, Joanna Crawshaw, Jonathon Miller, Carol Faber Peake, Amy Silver Greenberg, Kathleen Hill, Valerie Daft and Nora Toranowski are excited to join the Bothwell Arts Center Community with the established artists already in residence. Please stop by and check out the Bothwell and all the artists.

Day 8 - Arthur Barinque in front of the old Downtown Arts Studios building - we'd just finished the outside panel murals (with help from Carol Edwards). Both the KFC behind and the studios building are gone - but the City did give us 9 wonderful years there!

Zombie Crawl is skipping a year due to lack of a downtown presence to have a meeting place for Zombies due to the closing of the Bothwell Downtown Art Studios, thank you for your interest.

We had a large number of painters come through our door for Art Walk this year. Beginners and experts all joined in and made this event a fun one. If you missed it we will be having another paint-in coming up at our second Thursday evening gatherings. We'll keep you posted!
We had a nice turn-out for the paint-in at the Studios thanks to Carol Faber Peake 's organizational skills and her dedication to the arts. It was good to see so many enthusiastic artists jump in and start creating!

"In October of 2010, we began renovating what had been a derelict, abandoned liquor store and opened our Downtown Art Studios a little over 6 weeks later, with the help of many volunteers. The studios are within walking distance of favorite downtown boutiques, coffee houses and restaurants.
Two-thirds of the space is dedicated to inexpensive open but dedicated working spaces, where artists can work and leave their supplies out, in an environment where they can mingle with other artists and keep that art vibe happening. The other half is set up for semi-private working space."

My sister-in-law was recently diagnosed with leukemia. She's fighting with everything she's got, but she could use some support right now. and her husband are the makers behind and their business has touched so many lives. Now it's time to give back... I will be posting some of my reworked pinup drawings on Etsy, and all the proceeds will go to help support their family.

Meet the artist on Sunday, June 5th from 1-3:00 PM. Kathleen Hill’s first love, like so many young girls, was horses. Drawing them was her way of expressing that love. Her subject matter grew to include anything with fur or feathers. Whether she is doing a commission or a wildlife piece, she considers it her mission to capture the life essence of every animal she paints.

"Feeling Good" Art by Local Artists: Spring Art Show Opens in Livermore
"The Livermore Art Association is pleased to announce it’s annual Spring Art Show, the largest yearly display of art in the Tri-Valley. The event will be held Saturday, April 2 and Sunday, April 3 at The Barn, 3131 Pacific Avenue, Livermore.
The show features works by artists throughout the San Francisco East Bay in mediums including painting, mixed media, photography, sculpture, mosaic, and jewelry. Almost all works on display are for sale. In addition to the judged exhibit, a separate gallery will feature additional works for sale. Each day, local artists and art teachers will be demonstrating art techniques and answering questions from show visitors.
The show is open and free to the public, from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm both Saturday and Sunday. The public is also invited to a free reception on Saturday, April 2, 7:00 to 9:00 pm, featuring appetizers, local wines, and live music by the jazz trio, Threesguys. Judging the show this year is Bay Area painter Randall Sexton, a professional artist and art instructor. Sexton has won numerous awards for his work and has been acknowledged by artists, collectors, and jurors alike and has been featured in several national journals.
When you're feeling uninspired go with the intent of ruining a perfectly good piece of canvas! You will at least learn what not to do. But, more than likely you will find something joyful in pushing paint around! - JK Hayward
