Show Dates:
October 2, 3, 9, 10, 16, 17 2026 (Friday and Saturday nights, with an additional matinee the first 2 Saturdays)
Compensation:
Un-paid.
Audition Location:
North Ridge Rec Center (8800 S Broadway, Highlands Ranch, CO, 80126), in the Elbert Conference Room.
Rehearsal times:
The first rehearsal will be Tuesday July 28, 2026. Then rehearsals will follow the cadence of Monday & Thursday generally
6-8:30PM. Rehearsals will be in Highlands Ranch, within a mile of the audition location.
Show Synopsis:
Fools by Neil Simon is a fast-paced comedy set in a tiny village where a generations-old curse has left everyone hilariously foolish. When an idealistic young teacher arrives to educate his pupil and break the curse, he finds himself caught in a whirlwind of ridiculous misunderstandings, witty dialogue, and outrageous characters. Packed with clever humor and nonstop laughs, it's a classic Neil Simon comedy.

Leon Tolchinsky (Male, 20s–40s)
An idealistic schoolteacher with a kind heart, endless optimism, and unwavering determination. Intelligent, earnest, and a bit naïve, Leon believes he can solve any problem with logic and compassion.
Sophia Zubritsky (Female, 20s-30s)
A beautiful, sweet, and genuinely intelligent young woman who dreams of a life beyond her small village. Curious, romantic, and hopeful despite the strange world around her.
Dr. Zubritsky (Male, 30s–70s)
Sophia's father. A respected doctor whose confidence often exceeds his common sense. Well-meaning, warm, and unintentionally hilarious.
Lenya Zubritsky (Female, 30s–70s)
Sophia's mother. Loving, practical, and devoted to her family. She has a gentle spirit and a knack for accepting the absurd with complete sincerity.
Gregor (Male, 20s–70s)
The wealthy landowner of the village. Proud, theatrical, and intimidating, with a commanding presence, and an understated devious nature
Yenchna (Female, 20s–70s)
Rolls with the punches and is blissfully unaware of the fact that anyone could think anything is wrong
Slovitch (Male, 20s–70s)
Friendly, uncomplicated, and blissfully unaware of just how unusual his behavior seems to outsiders.
Mishkin (Male, 20s–70s)
The village postman. Eager to do his job, though not always successfully. Enthusiastic, quirky, and full of comic energy.
Snetsky (Male, 20s–70s)
Good-natured, hardworking, and another colorful member of the delightfully eccentric community.
Magistrate (Male, 20s–70s)
The town's official authority figure. Serious about his duties despite the village's ridiculous circumstances. Offers plenty of opportunities for dry comedy.
