Friends of The Public Theatre,

We are sad to announce that, after almost three decades, The Public Theatre will be closing its doors. The building that houses our performance space at 616 Center St. is under new ownership, and unfortunately, we will no longer be able to stay.

It has been our great honor to serve central Arkansas’ artistic community, and we are forever grateful for the support you’ve given us.

In November of last year our good friend (and former Artistic Director) Michael Davis passed away. Michael touched so many lives during his long, impressive career, and has left a huge hole in the hearts of our theatre community.

To honor Michael, please come join us at The Public on Saturday May 11th at 1:30pm to eat, drink, laugh, tell stories, and remember the our beautiful friend and colleague.

Up next at The Public Theatre:

Riverside Actors Theatre in partnership with Nightingale Theatre Collective present a staged reading of "Light Blind" by Ben Grimes at the Public Theatre May 30th, 31st & June 1st. "Light Blind" tells the story of Jason, a smart and talented 15 year old, who murders his father's m**h dealer, sending Jason into the heartless and complicated labyrinth of the modern day justice system. How do we move past the most traumatic and horrific elements of our lives and ourselves? Will we ever find justice or redemption or are we all just blind?

The performances will be a staged reading of the play and will feature an in depth talkback with the cast and playwright Ben Grimes. Performances begin at 7:30pm and are free to the public.
