The accomplishments of James R. Rodgers Sr., the first African American to hold the title of Executive Director of a United States Airport, were acknowledged by his peers with friends and family in attendance. Rodgers Sr. was responsible for bringing some $70 million in federal funds to LR Regional Airport, which is now Clinton National Airport. Posthumously, Rodgers Sr. had a street named in his honor. In attendance for the event were former Mayors Lottie Shackleford & Jim Dailey, and former Secretary of State Sharon Priest. Presiding over the day’s event was the Honorable Frank Scott Jr. & current Exec. Director of Clinton National Airport Steven C. Baker.
The day would not have been possible without the assistance of the Director of Public Affairs for Clinton Nat’l Airport Shane Carter and Senior PR Counsel Allison Bermudez, APR with Stone Ward.
