On the second day of the inaugural Stop/Time Festival, a two-day spring music and arts celebration produced by Hancher Auditorium, The Westerlies, Family Folk Machine, Joyelle McSweeney, and the University of Iowa Brass contended with inclement weather to deliver varied genres of music to Iowa City....

A phenomenal new recording coming March 20th from The Westerlies!

Have you heard? Our new album “Have You Heard? The Music of Bill Frisell, Vol. 1” is coming March 20th on Westerlies Records and the first single is out today!

It’s an incredible honor for us to share the world premiere performances and recordings of these 11 compositions by Bill Frisell. Bill’s music has been a foundational source of inspiration for us since our high school days in Seattle, and we could not be more grateful to him for trusting us with these songs. The dates, titles, and music read like journal entries, dating back to the beginning of the pandemic: “Madness Hopeless,” “Dose,” and “Impeach,” all the way through the most recent work, “A Wonderful Day,” from January 2024.

We’re also thrilled to share this album cover — our second collaboration with artist Sean Sullivan and designer Ben Tousley. We are in awe of their artistry.

Listen to the first single, “A Wonderful Day (Jan. 19, 2024)” and preorder an LP, CD, or digital copy today on Bandcamp to support the music directly!
