When you need a hero, Rural Metro Fire is quick to respond to any emergency. Here at Wildlife World Zoo, we are thankful to them for assisting our aquarium team with dive rescue training and for always responding quickly whenever we call. However, we now realize we may need to work with Tootsie Roll on understanding what an “emergency” is 😂

On World Ocean Day, Morgan asks our Sea Lion team what animal it was they fell in love with that made them want to pursue this amazing adventure of being a marine mammal specialist.

Come and see our Sea Lion show daily at 11:30 am and see our intelligent, high flying, full of personality sea lions, and the incredible bond they have with their trainers, and learn what you can do to help protect our oceans and the marine life that calls it home.

Many of our guests have a favorite animal, but do our zookeeper have a favorite? Morgan asks some of our some of our zookeeper staff what they think. Watch and see which animals they love the most! But don’t tell the other animals. 🤫

Stop what you’re doing and swipe through these adorable pictures! 🤗

It’s DeeDee’s 19th birthday today! She is the oldest giraffe in the tower, and in addition to being beloved by staff and guests, she has brought some beautiful babies into the world ❤️🦒

Here is a look back at some of our favorite pictures of her with babies Noel, Jill, Amari, and Bailey; plus some of Keeper Laurel and Keeper Brit’s favorite DeeDee pictures 🦒

The look you get when you wake up thinking it’s Friday, but surprise! It’s Thursday 🤪

Say hello to the Blue Bellied Roller! These beautiful birds are found in western and central Africa. Named for their acrobatic flight while snatching flying insects out of the air, these carnivores feed on insects, invertebrates, small snakes and other reptiles. Both males and females look identical, and have a beautiful royal blue abdomen, with dark and light blue feathers on their wings, and a tan head. They are powerful flyers and have a loud, croaking call.

You can see this beauty in Safari Park!

Keeping it cool with our black bears, Kaptain and Scout. Their keepers gave them some fun enrichment with a floating snack bar in their pool. While it's not easily visible from the public viewing area, they do have a pool that they enjoy playing in when the mood strikes. A swim up bar is definitely appreciated. 🐻

The American black bear is North America's smallest and most widely distributed bear species. Even though they are called black bears, they can actually come in a range of color from black, cinnamon, and blonde. They are highly intelligent omnivores ("which means they like to om-nom-nom on everything" - Keeper Lynn)

They primarily live in forested and mountainous areas between 4,000-10,000 feet. In Arizona you are most likely to find them along the Mogollon Rim, the White Mountains and the Mazatal Mountains and in areas near Flagstaff, Prescott, the Grand Canyon and of course Bearizona 🐻
