Esarhaddon, King of Assyria, famously boasted that no one in the known world could escape his power. Long dismissed as royal exaggeration, that claim may have contained more truth than once believed. In a recent lecture, Stephen Compton argues that historical evidence points to an Assyrian empire far larger than previously understood, extending even into Yemen. If correct, his findings would significantly reshape our understanding of the true reach of the Assyrian Empire.

It’s the smallest gestures that often leave the deepest impression.

After returning to Australia, Charles Tooma took the time to video call our team and volunteers to personally thank those who worked quietly behind the Assyrian Renaissance. Though he could not say goodbye to everyone in person, his kindness reached us all the same.

We will remember not only the voice and artistry Charles brought to our stage, but the warmth, humility, and sincerity he carries with him everywhere he goes.

Thank you, Charles. We truly appreciate you.

Thank you to everyone who made Assyrian Renaissance a meaningful and enriching experience.

We are grateful to our academic scholars for sharing their knowledge and insight. Thank you to our Assyrian artists for bringing the live art exhibition to life and adding creativity throughout the weekend, and to our Assyrian fine art students for their passion and contribution.

We also appreciate our collaborative guests: GISHRU, Assyrian Youth Federation of America - AYFA, and DancewithNadin for your dedication and involvement.

Most importantly, thank you to our attendees. Your continued support is what makes this all possible.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for an unforgettable weekend at Assyrian Renaissance.

Last week, celebrations were brought to life by the incredible voices of Juliana Jendo, Ramsen Sheeno, Madlen Ishoeva, and Charles Tooma, each delivering performances that filled the room with energy, pride, and celebration.

A special thank you to our talented 7-piece band whose musicianship carried every moment of the night.

We’re grateful to everyone who attended, supported, and celebrated with us. This is what it means to come together as a community.

For a moment, everything comes together.

In the music, in the art, in the conversations, and in the moments you don’t always see; there’s something deeper holding it all together. A shared history. A shared identity.

Everything we do at the Assyrian Cultural Foundation comes from that place. Not just to celebrate our culture, but to carry it forward in a way that feels alive, relevant, and real.

The Assyrian Renaissance is just one part of that story.

And we’re only getting started.

The Assyrian Renaissance is proud to feature guest vocalist George Dikho. Born into a musical family as the youngest of ten, George’s passion began early, performing as young as five at family events.

He grew up playing drums in his brothers’ bands across Toronto and internationally, later transitioning to keyboards at 16, where he began shaping his sound and songwriting.

His debut album, 21 Days, highlights his versatility as a singer, songwriter, and producer, with most of the project self-produced. Blending personal storytelling with modern sounds, George delivers music marked by authenticity, emotion, and dynamic range.

Happy Birthday to our Board Member, Edmond Ebrahimi. We are proud to feature him at the Assyrian Renaissance.

The Assyrian Renaissance is honored to highlight Edmond Ebrahimi, an Assyrian Cultural Foundation Board Member, dedicated music educator, and passionate supporter of Assyrian arts and culture.

Born in Urmia, Iran, Edmond developed a love for music at a young age, shaped by his family’s musical background. Despite the restrictions placed on music following the 1979 revolution, he remained committed to his craft, studying both pop and classical guitar. In 1995, he formed the Assyrian band Edsin, where he performed, wrote lyrics, and helped shape its sound.
After immigrating to the United States, Edmond continued serving the community through music, performing in church and teaching guitar. Since 2019, he has led popular group guitar classes at ACF, helping mentor the next generation of musicians.

Through performance, teaching, and music production, Edmond continues to preserve and advance Assyrian music and culture, and we are proud to have him as part of this year’s Assyrian Renaissance.
