FloodLight Art Studio Let my work be a reflection of the one who created me. I chose the name FloodLight Art Studio for several reasons..
1.

Mathew 5:16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. We are to be a light to the nations in everything we do, I hope I can do so through my art.
2. A floodlight usually comes on when passerbys come near or impending danger is near, I want to be a help to those in need while showing others they can be a light as well in a dark place.
3. My studio has so many windows that a flood of light beams through most of the day making it a great workplace to paint and design.

When you secretly take snapshots of your husband just so you can create a portfolio of pop-art paintings that reflect a day in the life of Mike. I couldn’t help myself. I’ve been seeing the vision of this for months but just now seeing one come to fruition. This is day 3 and it’s a long work in progress. Some of the pictures may not look exactly like him but that’s ok. I’m going more for the feel and atmosphere of the pics. Hope you enjoy the process.

I have been chomping at the bit to start this piece. Thank you Margaret Hood for the gallery style canvas. It was the perfect size for what I wanted to do. I have been taking snapshots of my husband for the past couple months and in my head I see it played out with bright bold colors. I finally got to start on it. Although I am still working on my people and it may not look exactly like him, that’s ok. I’m using him and his poses for the body of my work I’ve been wanting to do. There is something whimsical about sneaking these unexpected pics of him and creating a series that reflects the everyday life of Mike. It shows memories of him, places we’ve been and his everyday activities and I love that. I have been wanting to do a pop art style painting for awhile where color variations do not blend but stand alone and this picture has been in the back of my mind for months as this is the first picture caught on camera that led me to want to do this series. I instantly saw what I wanted in my head so here goes. We will see how far I get tomorrow.

How to become a starving artist? Well you don’t become one by sitting at home. Sometimes it means hitting the pavement literally and setting up at art markets until you’re well known. Tawba Walk was perfect weather, great location and the people were very receptive and great vibes. I have 8 new collectors of my art! Good day in the art world….
