By this time, you’ll be catching the end of an incredible show that kicks off with The Pride of All Nebraska and finishes with Emanuel Ax. We aren’t sure what you’re doing right now, but we promise this performance will be more exciting than whatever it is!

From the beginning, we have always believed in the healing power of music, which is why we started our Harmony in Healing program. The program was created to bring music to those who, for whatever reason, can’t come to the music. We have been honored to bring musicians to hospitals, cancer centers, and assisted living facilities throughout the city. We hope these performances bring a little joy, light, and hope to those who have the opportunity to hear them.

LSO kicks off its centennial season with Copland’s Fanfare for the Common Man and Tyler White’s A Fivescore Festival: 100 Measures for 100 Years. To amplify the celebration, LSO is joined for both fanfares by The Pride of All Nebraska: The Cornhusker Marching Band. LSO then pays homage to the program of its very first concert in March of 1927 with Mozart’s Overture to Le nozze di Figaro and Liszt’s Les Préludes. The celebration culminates with 7-time GRAMMY Award-winning piano legend Emanuel Ax who joins the orchestra to perform Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 22.

Can we have a moment for the ladies of the guild?! And these fashion photos!! For many years the orchestra was supported by these incredible women. Leaders in our community who were passionate about ensuring the legacy of music would live on. While the guild went on for many years, we have to admit if we got to go back and visit an era of its existence it would be this one. Now, there are many ways to support Lincoln’s Symphony Orchestra, but we wouldn’t have made it to 100 years without the guild.

The incomparable Emanuel Axe will be performing not once but twice in the state of Nebraska in one week! First, at Vesper Concerts in Omaha on September 8 and then with Lincoln's Symphony Orchestra on September 11. While the Vesper Concerts performance is already sold out, LSO still has seats available, so if you want to take advantage of the incredible opportunity to see Emanuel Ax twice in one week, get your tickets now before they sell out!

We are pretty sure all of our concerts would say pick me (not just these!) so why not buy the whole season, or compose your own series for the shows you want to see the most! The heart of the orchestra is music, and fostering a love of music in the next generation of musicians has always been at our core. From library visits and orchestra petting zoos that allow our youngest fans to learn about music, to our long-standing relationship with the Lincoln Youth Symphony, which puts Lincoln’s student talent on stage alongside our orchestra for a side-by-side performance, we are proud to create opportunities for young musicians to learn, grow, and perform. We even have our incredible Young Artist Competition, which gives up-and-coming talent the chance to learn and perform on our stage!
