Ramshorn, Slope Side

The Ramshorn Retaining Wall Project has officially started. Caulder Construction was on-site all last week hauling in fill to complete the access road to the area behind G Building, removing about 25 trees and installing silt fencing.

We have a Project KickOff call today with our Engineering Company overseeing the project, Verdantas Engineering (formerly Horizon Engineering), Caulder Construction and their Engineers and the Ramshorn B.O.D.’s.

Project is expected to take 4 to 6 weeks and will entail spreading 1,700 Cubic Yards of fill and installing many pre-engineered concrete blocks in the area to add additional support to secure the wall behind G Building and the expanded parking area.

Additionally, as a part of this project, we will finish replacing the last culvert as a part of the Culvert Replacement Project we addressed two years ago. This last culvert is the longest, deepest and most disruptive of all the culverts we replaced, as it runs under the road on the east end of H Building and continues under the road again, through the expanded parking area between F & G Buildings.

Please be aware that there will be a significant amount of construction activity on-going with a significant number of truck loads of fill and pre-engineered cast blocks being delivered to the site. Please try to stay clear of the area of possible and expect lots of noise and activity over the coming weeks.

The walkway/stairway on the west end of C Building, that was washed out a few weeks ago, was completely rebuilt by C&D Landscape & Design, last week.

Lincoln got slammed with 5 to 6 inches of rain last week and the walkway at the end of C building got completely washed out. Don Brandon, from C&D landscaping, will be getting that repaired as soon as possible.

There are a lot of people crossing the crosswalk by the Kanc8 and they appear from behind the Kanc8 building suddenly! We have added signage at the Kanc8 crosswalk! Please drive safely and slowly going thru this area, and Stop for Pedestrians!

Remiss in not posting that we started the painting rotation of the Ramshorn buildings this summer. The new composite siding has held their paint for over ten years with no pealing! We had to paint mainly because they have faded. H Building was completed this fall. Next summer we will paint E Building.

Caulder Construction was on a roll and completed one of two culverts up top on the east end of H Building as well! One big culvert left that will be completed as part of the Retaining Wall project next spring.

Caulder Construction was finally able to come back and finish the other big culvert at the end of C Building! Looks great and is a huge relief to get this done!

When it comes to increasing our capacity to shed water, you have to start at the bottom and work uphill. We have now replaced all the culverts by C & D Buildings, that is five culverts and one large manhole basin. Essentially, we have replaced and increased the capacity of the culverts that 100% of the water that comes down the mountain travels thru!

Now they are headed up top to replace the upper culvert that comes off the trail by the east end of H Building. That will leave the other culvert that goes from H across the road to the parking area between F & G.
