One of the highlights of our annual seminar is the quilt exhibit, thoughtfully curated and assembled by our dedicated members. This year’s display will be no exception. AQSG is proud to present:

✨Friends of the Needle Exhibit - “We Call Them Quilts for a Reason”✨

When we say the word “quilt” we generally think of the object, but “quilt” is also a verb. This exhibit calls attention to and celebrates the exquisite and amazing needlework that holds batting and fabric together. On a purely utilitarian basis, quilting does just that - holds fabric together. But quilters have never been satisfied with being simply utilitarian. Over thousands of years needlewomen have used their needles and thread to create intricate patterns on clothing, bedding and home decor, taking the tiniest stitches possible. The quilts in this exhibit continue that tradition and display stunning designs and astounding technique. Primarily the work of 19th-century American women, these quilts celebrate the skill and artistic sense of quilters who knew that “quilting makes the quilt!”

This exhibit, as well as our vendors, will be open to the public on Saturday, Aug. 29th from 1-4pm. $10 admission. Visit the Lincoln Seminar website for more info.

Adventures with Rulers and Specialty Tools

As the daughter of a quilt shop owner, I have taught so many classes using rulers and specialty tools! When a new ruler or tool comes out, it is often my job to figure out how to use it and then share that knowledge with others. I’d love to share all my quilts that have been made over the years with those tools, and give you an insider’s look at whether or not I’d buy them again!
