The Nebraska Storytelling Festival gives people of our state a stage to share their stories, understanding that our tales help us understand who we are, celebrate the diversity and commonality of human experience, give meaning to our struggles.

Do you have a true personal story to tell? Know someone who does? Is there a friend or family member in Greater Nebraska you know who has a great story? We’re inviting Nebraska residents from across the state to send in their name and a bit of information about the true personal story they’d like to share. We ask that stories on our stage be 5 to 7 minutes long.

We are planning an event which will take place at the Scottish Rite Ballroom. 332 Centennial Mall South in downtown Lincoln) on Thursday evening, October , 22, 2026. Our theme this year is Many threads, one story.

The Moth is the can’t-miss storytelling event of the year.

If you love a good story, chances are you’ve already heard The Moth—whether through the Peabody Award-winning Moth Radio Hour or the wildly popular Moth Podcast.

On April 17, you have the chance to experience it live.

This Mainstage event is the quintessential Moth experience: a two-act show where five storytellers, along with a notable host, take the stage to share true personal stories—told without notes and recorded for future episodes.

This special edition centers on a timely theme: The American Dream.
