Have you ever noticed the Carousel Creamery’s topper? Our team thought this was just a charming decoration. However, after coming across a home movie from the 1940s, our team noticed the topper was spinning! This off-season, our maintenance team installed a motor to get it rotating again.

Check out this picture from nearly 24 years ago on June 14, 2002, when Idlewild & SoakZone buried a time capsule near the original train depot for the park’s 125th anniversary. We are at the halfway point of the capsule's opening in 2050, which is 24 years from now. This week's host shoutout goes to Hannah! 🥳

This is Hannah’s fifth season as an Idlewild & SoakZone employee, and she currently serves as a Senior Aquatics Supervisor. However, Hannah wears multiple hats. She also works full-time at Swimmer’s Network, a swimwear store in Latrobe, and helps coach multiple swim teams in the area.

Hannah says her favorite part of working at Idlewild & SoakZone is being with her friends and interacting with different types of people. In her free time, Hannah likes to read, go on hikes, and spend time outdoors.

“Idlewild is a great place to work. It's a really great starting job,” Hannah said.

Thank you, Hannah, for your hard work and dedication over the last five years. We are excited to welcome you back for another wave-making season! 🌊🛟☀️

It’s I Spy Saturday! I spy with my little eye... a bear enclosure! 👁️🔍🐻

Did you know that the stone building between the Flying Aces and Rollo Coaster once housed two Canadian Black Bears? The bears, Barney and Queen, had three cubs: Amos, Andy and Ruby. Built in 1931, the structure was one of several animal habitats in the park at that time, which included monkeys, deer, raccoons, pheasants, and more.

Although the enclosure now sits vacant, it’s still a bear-y fun reminder of the park’s history. Buy tickets today at https://www.idlewild.com/buy-tickets/ to see where Barney and Queen once lived!
