There was a time in my creative journey where I didn't include scripture in my art.

I had this misconception that people into my odd, trippy art wouldn't be into Jesus, & the people into jesus wouldn't be down with my odd trippy art.

And how silly is that? Because I am me.

Since allowing the two to coexist together, I have had countless & undeniable experiences that keep showing me who God is and how he keeps showing up for us in the most unexpected ways.

This story from start to finish contains so much more than I could possibly fit into a post, or maybe even into a single conversation. The past Struggles that felt unbareable at times, the heart aches, the lessons, I've watched them all unfold into blessings. Everything that never should have worked on paper, miraculously came together and it's working. The collaboration of this piece really tied it all together for me in such a magnificent way.

When my friend David Kash & I began the commission process on this piece, I asked "what inspired the idea?" He simply said "cus God saved my life and I just want to represent him" after finishing this piece, he sent a message that read "you don't know how happy it makes my heart that you are not ashamed to make a piece of art like this"

And that really hit me.

Plenty of human interactions have nearly spoiled God for me over the years. Seeking him on my own time, in my own way, has made all the difference. God meets us where we are and uses us for exactly who he created each of us to be if we let him.

I'm a huge fan of NOT shoving God down people's throats, but I will never be ashamed of him showing up in my art, & my door is always open 🤙

The simple truth is, I've had so many undeniable experiences at the point in my journey, I'd be a liar if I ever denied him.

More often than not, its not the prayers, and bibles and cookie cutter moments in a church where God shows up the loudest.

Make sure you don't miss the real plan he has for your life because you're hung up on humans who have misrepresented him. You never really know how God is or isn't using someone for his purpose in the exact season they are in.

I actually spent a lot of my childhood believing I was stupid because math and reading were such a struggle for me. It wasn't for lack of trying either. I really wanted to understand rather than feeling so confused I wanted to bang my head into a brick wall 🤣

I hated summer school & being pulled out of classes for extra help as a kid. When I got older and had to keep my grades up to continue the sport I loved so dearly, I even took it upon myself to get extra math help on my lunches.

I can't tell you how many teachers tried to explain formulas and such to me in SO MANY different ways. they'd finish explaining and so genuinely, and HOPEFULLY ask "so does that make sense, do you get it now?😊"

Did I get it now? Unfortunately, I felt like they may as well have been speaking Chinese into my right ear, while simultaneously speaking french into my left ear, while a german man yelled loudly in the background.

For a long time I was honest, admitting I still did not have a lick of understanding, & they would try to explain it for the 875th time, & I would listen to more nonsense, trying to sort it all out.

Incase I haven't already painted a clear picture: My freshman year of high school, I thought I was genuinely understanding whatever chapter we had been working on. I applied myself the best I could, I confidently handed my test in thinking I might have gotten something higher than a D on this one, maybe I had even pulled off a B I thought ✨️...we got the test scores back....I had failed so miserably I only got a 12% on the test...12% 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

After a while, I realized I was never going to get it, and I didn't give a f**k if I got it or not. I accepted my brain simply wasn't a math brain and I didn't care to be miserable over it anymore.

I stopped taking notes & starting doodling in math class.

Fact: I used to throw my art pieces away when I got to this point. So happy I've outgrown that & let the creative process work itself out! Sometimes I still don't love the end result, but there's plenty of people out there who will 🤙
