It’s been our pleasure to be part of the story of Copper Mountain Band! Here’s to never gettin off the mountain!

Back in 2006, Israel David, Nate Norman, and I formed Copper Mountain Band in Troy, Montana. With the raw energy of drummer Casey Mann and the rock-solid guitar work of Shawn Tong, we locked in as a five-piece and hit the ground running. What started as a gritty bar band quickly turned into something bigger—growing a loyal following and taking our sound across Idaho, Washington, and eastern Montana.
With the backing of our amazing friends and booking agents Gary & Patricia, we leveled up—becoming a full-on touring machine, playing 150+ shows a year and living life wide open on the road.
Like any band worth its salt, we evolved. Around 2012, Shawn stepped away, and Casey began sharing the stage with the insanely talented Johnny Betts—who officially joined us full-time in 2014. In 2015, Israel followed a different calling and stepped into worship music, leaving his mark on our foundation forever. Over the years, we’ve been lucky enough to share the stage with an incredible lineup of musicians who became family: Teniya Morelli, Sonny King, Steve Starkey, Chance Long, CJ Krager, Warren Lee Adams, Tim Palmerinke, Payton Rae, Keith Brown, Dave Calhoun—and countless others who jumped in and made the ride unforgettable.
And what a ride it’s been.
From 3 wild weeks in France (including Disneyland Paris) to shows stretching from California to the Dakotas—and just about everywhere in between—we’ve played fairs, festivals, rodeos, honky-tonks, dance halls, and country clubs. We’ve shared stages with artists from Johnny Lee to Night Ranger, Eric Church to Styx, and recorded albums in both California and Nashville alongside some unbelievably talented players and producers.
Then came songwriting… and wow. There’s nothing like hearing a crowd sing your words back to you. We wrote about life in a small Montana town—the grit, the love, the chaos—and our fans felt it. If you heard a CMB song, you knew exactly who we were.
And yeah… let’s not forget our alter ego, Pour Decisions. Good Lord. That happened. 😆 Huge thanks to Keith Brown for pulling us back to our roots where we belong.
In 2021, the next chapter kicked off when our 16-year-old son, Cody Norman, joined the band—and absolutely lit it up. Turns out stage presence runs in the blood. By 2025, we were back in the studio, recording a new album of originals—many written by Cody and longtime friend Bayden Cini—bringing a fresh, modern edge to the CMB sound.
Now, 20 years in, the lineup stands strong with me, Nate, Cody & Johnny. These days, we’re playing select shows with some of our favorite musician friends, while putting family and life first. Music isn’t the grind anymore—it’s the gift. It’s something we get to enjoy, not something we have to chase.
Twenty years. What a ride.
A journey full of memories, miles, music, and moments we’ll never forget. Fans who became lifelong friends. Super fans who traveled over seas to see us. And of course—Jerry and that legendary CMB tattoo. You know who you are. 😉
