LexPhil is excited to welcome Melissa Hammer to the Lexington Philharmonic Society Board of Directors! Hammer was appointed at the conclusion of the 2025–2026 Fiscal Year and will serve a three year term.

Melissa Hammer serves as Associate Director of Communications for the Kappa Delta Foundation, where she leads strategic communications and donor engagement. A transplant to Central Kentucky, she is an active member of the Junior League of Lexington where she served as President of the organization during its centennial in 2024.

LexPhil is excited to welcome Justin Balcor to the Lexington Philharmonic Society Board of Directors! Balcor was appointed at the conclusion of the 2025–2026 Fiscal Year and will serve a three year term.

A percussionist of twenty years, Kentuckian Justin Balcor has been a music educator for over a decade. Presently the District Itinerant World Music Instructor for Fayette County Public Schools, he leads the Carter G. Woodson Academy Drumming Royals and the Lexington Middle School Blackcat Steel Band. Balcor is also an adjunct instructor at Centre College.

Y’all bootscooted, boogied, and brought another wonderful year of Picnic with the Pops to the Bluegrass. For over four decades, Picnic has been a summertime favorite, and LexPhil is honored to have made music for our community at every one.

As we officially embark on our 65th anniversary season, we wish you joy and happiness. But, above all this, we wish you the love of music. See y’all soon!
