This weekend, we had a lovely retreat with the amazing Blair Brown! Thank you so much for coming all this way to spend some time with us! We can't wait to bring everything we worked on this weekend to St. Louis in July! We'd also like to give a special thank you to our chapter treasurer, Carl, for letting us borrow his living room in the morning while our retreat site was having their Sunday church service.

If you're in New England and want to see what we were working on, we have good news for you! Catch us at Arts of the Armory in Somerville on May 31st at 2 pm! We'll be performing the set we're bringing to International, as well as our Barbershop Acapella Space Opera, Expedition Five, written and directed by members of VocaMotion and our brother chorus, Vocal Revolution!

We had a fantastic weekend at the NED Southern Regional Convention! We debuted one of our two songs we're bringing to the BHS International Contest in St. Louis, MO and we think it was a hit. It was the first contest with VoMo for four of our members and they handled it like champions. We're so glad we got to share the stage with them and so many others this weekend. Thank you all for a wonderful contest!

We hope to see you all soon, perhaps closer to home for our spring show, Expedition Five, happening on May 31st at Arts of the Armory in Somerville, MA!

Before we hit the Division stage in a week and a half, let's get to know one of our VoMo leads, Jordan Friedman!

You might recognize Jordan from quartets Aberdeen and Goofin' 'n' Doofin'. She fondly remembers her first quartet contest with Goofin' 'n' Doofin', not knowing what to expect when they hit the contest stage with their attire, but you can hear their trademark "Wow!" and accompanying arm movement within the NED community.

She joined VoMo after watching the chorus from afar until a new work opportunity allowed for her to finally audition and commit to joining another chorus! When asked what she loves about VoMo, she told us "I love any opportunity to sing with my friends, but I also particularly love singing in a chorus directed by Cay. He is so talented and continues to challenge us and keep us on our toes at every rehearsal."

Outside of Barbershop, Jordan is a preschool teacher that loves bringing music and singing into the classroom, and sporting her favorite color, the rainbow. 🌈

You can meet Jordan and all the other members of VocaMotion at Follen Church in Lexington the 1st and 3rd (and sometimes 5th) Wednesday of every month!

What's one of the best parts about singing with VocaMotion? The people, of course! Today, in our new series, Get to Know VoMo, we'd like to introduce you to some of our amazing members that make VocaMotion the place to be on the first and third Wednesday of every month! Starting off, we have one of our amazing tenors, Liz Craig!

Liz wanted to join a chorus after taking some time off when her younger children were born. VoMo was the perfect fit! If she's not rocking VoMo blue, you might catch her wearing jungle green, her favorite color, the bluest green you get before crossing over into teal.
When not on the risers, she's a foreign filing paralegal that loves spending time with her family. They enjoy traveling to beach towns in Maine like York and Ogunquit, two of her favorites, and spend time in the White Mountains. If she's not doing any of those things, you might catch her playing the piano or swimming.
Some of her most fond memories are with her family. When she was younger, one of her uncles drove trains for Amtrak, and he'd let her blow the train whistle sometimes. More recently, she's enjoyed watching her kids learn how to ride bikes without their training wheels and learning how to swim.

When we asked what she loves about singing with us, she said "I love singing in a competitive treble chorus, I love the genuine friends I've made, the camaraderie, the seemingly endless opportunities for growth both individually and as a group, the music we make, and those tight barbershop harmonies...the list goes on and on! It's sometimes hard to remember life before VoMo 😉"

This February, let love take center stage with the timeless charm of barbershop harmony. Treat your special someone to a unique and heartfelt experience. We can't wait to serenade your special someone!

**In-person singing valentines!** 🌹💝🎶
A local barbershop quartet will visit your recipient in-person and sing two songs while delivering chocolates, a silk rose, and a personalized card. We can also deliver fresh roses or fancier chocolates! If the recipient allows, we will take a photo and send it to you, so you can remember it forever too.
Reserve a visiting quartet for as little as $80.

**Or, new for 2026: VIRTUAL singing valentines!**💌💻
Your recipient will receive an email or text message on Valentine's Day morning with a link to a video from a local barbershop quartet. We will read a personal message from you, then sing two songs. Only $25 each! Send two!

This is a fundraiser for our choruses, so please consider upgrading your selection with fresh roses or fancy chocolates, or sending multiple Singing Valentines to support us even more!

We are available on three days to deliver in-person Singing Valentines:

Since today marks the 8th night of Hanukkah, the Winter Solstice, and 4 more days until Christmas, we thought we would celebrate by looking back at some VocaMotion highlights from our Holiday Concert "The Secret of Christmas Stories and Song." Thank you again to all who came out to support us, and for those who couldn't make it, here is a look into what an incredible night of music and fun we had. We wish you a very happy holiday season and will see you again in the new year! 🌟
