Festival of the Bluegrass

Festival of the Bluegrass Our 47th year! June 11-14, 2020
Kentucky Horse Park Campground
Lexington, KY

Celebrating Appalachia

Started by Bob and Jean Cornett in 1974, the Festival of the Bluegrass is still in the family and remains one of the best Bluegrass Festivals in the country. The Festival is held every year during the 2nd Weekend of June at the Kentucky Horse Park Campground in Lexington, KY.

There will not be a Festival of the Bluegrass in 2023. We have been getting a lot of calls and emails asking about an upcoming Festival, but we don't have anything to do with it. We wish everyone the best of luck and let the music go long into the night.

There will not be a Festival of the Bluegrass in 2022. We know there has been a lot of inquiry and we thank you for your patience. The Covid-19 pandemic has affected individuals and communities in different ways and our personal circumstances are such that we do not have the bandwith to make this event happen.

We are working through the process of refunding everyone's money from their 2020 purchases; there will not be an option to rollover to 2023. In addition, you have likely noticed that we do not maintain this page. If you have an address change, please let us know by visiting www.festivalofthebluegrass.com or emailing [email protected] or [email protected]. We have deactivated comments and private messages on this site.

We love you all and hope you are healthy and well and finding your Bluegrass fix. -Roy, Anna, and the rest of the Cornett family

It is with sadness that we announce that, out of concern for the health and safety of everyone in attendance, there will not be a 2021 Festival of the Bluegrass. This was an extremely difficult decision, and one that was months in the making. If this past year has taught us anything it’s that we must take care of each other. That includes making difficult decisions that are for the good of the many, rather than the privilege of the few. Those who were kind enough to roll over their campsite payments from 2020 to 2021 will receive a full refund in the coming weeks. Thank you for your patience as we work through this accounting. Stay well, friends, and we hope to see you next year.

Let's be honest - it's of a bummer of a day. Normally we'd be sitting at the airstream, gazing a sea of chairs and listening to 60+ of our favorite kiddos pluck their hearts out to Cripple Creek. We'd be waiting for the sound crew to arrive for tonight's show. We'd be eating unhealthy food and saying hello to all of you and laughing at stories from Festival's past. And we're not. And we're pretty sad about it. So let's start a thread of some of our favorite memories and photos from Festivals these past 46 years. I'll start.

In support of the great artists we had slated to perform this June, we've launched a merch page where you can go and buy an album, tshirt, patch, sticker, or whatever else suits your style (and your budget) in support of these bands. Follow the link to our website and spread some Bluegrass love!

With music venues, bars, and festivals closing down due to the Covid-19 pandemic, musicians are feeling a significant financial impact. The artists we had slated to perform this year are no...

It is with deep sadness that we announce the June 11-14, 2020, Festival of the Bluegrass has been cancelled. For the past 46 years, our family has enjoyed spending a few magical days together at the Festival of the Bluegrass, and we know that is the case for many of you. It is for this reason – our love for you and our desire to keep you all safe and healthy – that we must make the difficult, but correct, decision to cancel.

We are continuing to plan for the weekend of June 11-14 with the hopes that we'll see you at the Kentucky Horse Park as always. However, this is a very fluid situation and the recommendations from the local, state, and federal level are changing every day. The current recommendations from the CDC are to limit gatherings of 50 or more people until mid-May. Should this change, or Governor Beshear make other recommendations specific to Kentucky, we will re-evaluate. Any announcement will be made via Social Media and our website. If something changes with this year's Festival and you have already purchased a campsite and/or tickets, we will contact you directly.
