Decided to rest awhile at with an old friend Mr. Rip Van Winkle. 10 year wheated at 107° is just about everything I want out of a bourbon. At retail it’s a deal, secondary…well you know my opinion on that. At 10 years the oak is perfectly balanced with the sweet, like that butterscotch penny candy.

Apparently Instagram thinks a review of this bourbon is sexual exploitation. I mean I know I’m sexy but that’s a stretch.
Summary: Good bourbon not worth $230

Ethanol forward nose until it opened up after a couple min, typical for Old Grand Dad line.
Rich malty nose
Sorghum
Lumber
Caramel apple
Light forward flavor that mirrors the nose
Soft mouthfeel slow warming
Lingering finish with flashes of caramel apple.
Modest heat
This is my favorite Old Grand Dad but at $230 it’s gonna be a pass from me. And yes, I get you pay for age at 16 years and know there’s only about 30% of the barrel left but there just isn’t enough here for me to regret walking away with $230 in my pocket. So this one will remain for me a bar sip.

In the Covid Summer of 2020 Lahannah and Jeremy decided to make day drinking an official thing. They began the show as a one off to get some publicity for our mutual businesses, but quickly realized that they liked what we were doing and decided to meet back in two weeks.
Lahannah Bonagofski works as the front house manager for Copper & Oak burger and bourbon bar in downtown Danville, who openly host the show! Along with her wealth of bourbon experience and passion for Kentucky’s native spirit she brings a host of connections and feisty spirit to the show.
Jeremy works as a full time Realtor with Lifstyl Real Estate out of Lexington, Kentucky. He dove into bourbon a few years ago, his passion for food and flavors led him to the amber juice we love. Combined with his palate and thirst for knowledge Jeremy brings his laid back demeanor and analytical focus.
Together they with their unique sibling type chemistry the world of bourbon will never be the same. Seeded deep in the heart of bourbon country these two laugh and learn their way through bourbon with the help of many of their friends in the bourbon world. Not to mention their fans who help them locate special bottles and help guide the show with amazing ideas!
Soon after the show began on a regular basis the two were joined by Graham Jackson who works as the team’s lighting, video and photographic director. Graham works at The Idea Farm as a photographer, and all around tech guru and marketing mastermind.
