Modern twist on folk art. Handmade wool ornaments for people who like their holidays a little quirky.

Modern as Folk began with my love for hand stitching and a lifelong habit of making things with personality. As a kid, I was always crafting and setting up little “shops” in the driveway. Today, I channel that same playful energy into designing wool appliqué ornaments that range from cute and whimsical to quirky and delightfully odd. Each ornament is hand stitched by me and inspired by the joy of

giving small characters a life of their own. My favorite moment at any market is watching someone’s face light up when they spot something unexpected or see an ornament that feels like it was made just for them. Modern as Folk is my way of putting a modern twist on a traditional folk art technique and filling the world with a little more charm, color, and character.

It’s officially LAST CALL to get your hand-stitched wool ornaments before Christmas! Tonight from 5-10, I'll be at The Void Sake Company, and tomorrow morning from 9-1, I'll be at the Lexington Farmers Market at Greyline Station (indoors, yay!). After this, the ornaments go into hibernation until next year… unless you know where to find them online. 😉

If you live in the Cincinnati / Northern Kentucky area, mark your calendar for this weekend! I’m returning to the Cincinnati Art Museum's Holiday Market this Saturday (11-5) and Sunday (11-4). Museum admission is free, so come make an afternoon of it. Shop, grab a bite at the Café, and visit the Museum’s fantastic exhibits while you’re there!

I’m all set up today from 11-6 beside the patio at Country Boy Georgetown’s Fall Bazaar! I brought my entire ornament collection, including new ones like the hissing possum and Christmas hippo. Come grab a cold craft beer (or beverage of your choice) and peruse the more than 70 vendors set up on this most beautiful day. Please stop by to say hello – and distract me from eating ALL of the pretzel bites!
