Misfit No. 1 of 8: The Holiday Grouch

New this season. Santa hat slightly askew, wearing that scheming smile. You know exactly who this is. I'm just not allowed to say his name.

The hammerhead shark is not, traditionally, a Christmas ornament subject. I made one anyway.

Head-on view, eyes set wide on that signature hammer-shaped head, mid stand-off with whoever's looking back. It is one of the more unusual shapes in the shark world, which is already a world with some unusual shapes in it, and it is now available in wool felt, hand-stitched by me one at a time in Paris, Kentucky.

For the shark fan who wants something a little different.

Full disclosure: I once mistook a Great Horned Owl perched on my childhood swingset for an actual monster and ran away screaming while my neighbor watched the whole thing unfold. She later reported the wingspan was approximately that of a piano, which, in my defense, is a lot of owl for a 5-year-old.

This one is considerably less terrifying. Hand-stitched wool appliqué, zero piano-sized wings included.

The new Modern as Folk website is live. I spent months rebuilding it from scratch, so browsing is easier and checkout doesn't require a leap of faith.

It’s officially LAST CALL to get your hand-stitched wool ornaments before Christmas! Tonight from 5-10, I'll be at The Void Sake Company, and tomorrow morning from 9-1, I'll be at the Lexington Farmers Market at Greyline Station (indoors, yay!). After this, the ornaments go into hibernation until next year… unless you know where to find them online. 😉
