All the pinball machines here award free games for a score to beat. Also, shooting Special when lit awards a free game.
Finally, don't give up at the end of the game; The game displays a random number. If you score ends in that number, you win a free game.
In other words, if you play well enough, you can play all day at Pinball in the Mall for $1.

500,000 awards a free game, and the random number Matched the last two digits of my score, awarding another free game.
Making this interesting was that I started my last ball with 470k and 30k+ in bonus. So I knew that, as long as I don’t tilt, I win. Like the Price is Right showcase sometimes. So I was real safe , didn’t nudge, nor try any daring saves. And so had a short Ball 3, but won my free game.

I first saw In-line Drop Targets in 1979 when returning from 2 month summer trip. The arcade near my home had new pinball machines - Paragon and Harlem Globetrotters. Both use this new invention and both are designed by Greg Kmiec, who also designed Wizard, Night Rider, and Six Million Dollar Man.

The 2 previous 1970s inventions for Bally were invented in subsidiary Dave Nutting Associates. These are solid state pinball controller and Flip Flags. That in-line targets and flip flags are on Kmiec playfields makes me think that Kmiec was most willing to implement a new device in his designs.

On this date June 4th, 1979 Bally pinball filed a patent for inline drop targets. Can you name the first game where they were present?
