The artist in us all will relate 😀
Pennsylvania really does deserve its own box of crayons, because regular colors just don’t cover what we deal with here. You need Pittsburgh Grey for the sky that forgets how sunlight works, PennDOT Orange for the cones that apparently reproduce overnight, Pothole Black for that one crater on your commute with its own zip code, and Deer at Dusk Tan for the exact shade of panic that appears beside the road at 45 mph. Throw in Erie Lake Effect White, Scrapple Brown, and Turnpike Toll Booth Beige, and suddenly every Pennsylvanian is coloring with childhood trauma, regional pride, and whatever that smell is near a gas station hoagie at 11 p.m. Honestly, this isn’t a crayon box. It’s a survival kit.
Pittsburgh Grey
That exact color the sky turns from November through April.
PennDOT Orange
Available year-round, somehow always blocking your lane.
Sheetz Red
A bright, emotional red used mostly for loyalty, gas station food, and yelling “MTO.”
Wawa Green
Only appears in eastern PA and instantly starts an argument.
Turnpike Toll Booth Beige
The color of realizing your 37-minute drive somehow cost $14.
Pothole Black
Deep, mysterious, and capable of swallowing an entire tire.
Erie Lake Effect White
Looks peaceful until you have to shovel it three times before lunch.
Scrapple Brown
Nobody can fully explain it, but half the state defends it with their life.
Deer at Dusk Tan
A calm neutral shade that suddenly appears directly in front of your car.
Philly Parking Cone Orange
Used to legally protect a lawn chair, a trash can, or a spot your cousin “was saving.”
Central PA Fog
A soft gray-white blend of cornfields, headlights, and guessing where the road went.
Hoagie Roll Gold
The sacred color of a roll that can make or break the whole sandwich.
