🩹 Burn Recovery Update – Day 1 🩹
I figured I’d keep you all updated. Today was my first bandage change.
Nobody warned me that the bandage was going to decide it wanted to become part of my hand. 😖
Despite soaking it and trying to be careful, parts of the dressing were stuck to the burn, and pulling it off was absolute agony. I don’t know if I’ve ever been so focused on not passing out.
The good news is that everything still looks healthy. The doctors want me moving my thumb as much as I can tolerate so it doesn’t heal too tight and limit mobility later. That sounds simple until you realize your thumb suddenly feels like it’s made of 🔥lava.🔥
I’ve learned a few things in the last 24 hours:
🔥 Burns are way worse than I ever imagined.
❤️🩹I respected burn survivors before, but now I have a whole new respect for burn survivors.
😭 I really miss drawing and tattooing already.
I’m still working through rescheduling appointments and trying to answer messages in between pain med naps. Thank you to everyone who has checked on me, sent prayers, offered help, or just made me laugh today. It means a lot.
For now, my full-time job is healing.
