🌞 Our September exhibition, "The Eastern Shore," celebrates the environment we call home! In this showcase, three artists display artwork inspired by the DelMarVa region, presenting the area through their artistic eye.
One of those artists is Carole Böggemann Peirson, a Dutch artist who has been a professional oil painter since 2005 and is mostly known for her East Coast landscapes. A few life-changing events in 2020 caused a shift in her work from figurative to (semi-)abstract. Her ethereal works in oil & cold wax are inspired by the idea that all living things are connected and that we are spiritual beings having a temporary physical experience. She enjoys creating harmonious abstracted landscapes on cradled boards that invite the viewer to explore the intricate layers of colors and textures.
The process of applying layers of oil paint and wax and then uncovering previous layers results in an interesting balance between surprising effects and deliberate design. The paintings are meant to evoke emotions and memories through the use of visual elements. Carole hopes her love for life and her optimism about the future will shine through in her work and that the viewer will feel uplifted looking at it time and time again.
Carole’s work will only be at our gallery through September 27. Stop into the gallery to see these pieces in person or preview the show online at https://www.peninsula-gallery.com/the-eastern-shore
